William "Bill" Joseph Wood passed away on May 11, 2026, at Lakeview Hospital following complications related to aging. The family extends heartfelt thanks to the Lakeview staff for their care and compassion.
Bill was a proud and dedicated pipefitter for more than 50 years and a dues paying member of Local 57 out of Salt Lake City. His work took him across much of the western United States, contributing to the construction and maintenance of power plants that continue to serve communities today. During his years on the road, he lived in his trailer, and his family often visited him wherever he was working.
A true craftsman at heart, Bill found joy in his garage, where he rebuilt and restored five cars-including two Lincoln convertibles that earned multiple awards. His 1961 Lincoln Continental Convertible was his pride and joy.
On August 12, 1977, Bill married the love of his life, Maxine Carole Wood. Together they spent 49 years building a blended family and creating a lifetime of memories. They enjoyed snowmobiling, houseboating, camping in their trailer, playing dominos, and spending as much time in the mountains as possible.
Bill is survived by his children Tony, Gordon (Sherry), and Pamela (Ottis); his stepchildren Kathy (John) and Mark; his niece Connie, nephew Rod, and his many grandchildren and great grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Freda and Joseph Wood; his sister, Patricia; his brother Jack; and his stepson, K.C.Bill was known for his generosity, especially with his grandchildren and great grandchildren-often reminding everyone that "young people always need money."
His kindness, craftsmanship, and love for his family will be deeply missed.
