William A Rasmussen

William A. Rasmussen, lovingly known as Bill, passed away on July 20th, 2026 at the age of 76. Born on September 15th, 1949 in Bountiful, Utah to Ivo and Ellamae Rasmussen.

Bill proudly served his country in the United States Army enlisting in 1969 alongside his twin brother Bob. He served for eight years and received an honorable discharge.

On September 2nd, 1977, Bill married the love of his life Patti Rasmussen, and together they built a marriage filled with love, commitment, and countless memories.

After the military he worked for Hill Field Air Force Base in electronics and camera repair for 27 years. In 1985, Bill turned his passion for automobiles into a family business by opening an automotive shop. Nearly five decades later, the shop continues to operate, under Ras’s Auto in Layton Utah. On top of fixing cars, Bill believed in investing in people. He took great pride in mentoring young men who came through the shop, teaching them not only mechanical skills but also the values of honesty, hard work, and helping others.

Bill had a quick wit and a great sense of humor that could brighten even the toughest days. He was always willing to lend a helping hand to anyone in need, never expecting anything in return. His kindness, generosity, and ability to make people laugh will be remembered by all who knew him.

He loved his dogs, Rubie, Duke, and Roxie sharing his morning coffee and breakfast with them. If he was eating the dogs were too.

Those who knew Bill knew about his sweet tooth—though he would insist he didn’t have one, no matter the evidence of ice cream or cinnamon rolls.

Bill found happiness in working on cars with his twin brother Bob, spending time with family and friends, sharing stories, and making people smile. His legacy lives on not only through the successful business he built but through the countless lives he impacted with his generosity, humor, and willingness to help others.

He will be deeply missed, lovingly remembered, and forever carried in the hearts of those who had the privilege of knowing and loving him.

He is survived by his wife Patti Rasmussen, his twin brother Bob Rasmussen(Becky) and many more family members and friends.

He is preceded in death by his parents Ellamae and Ivo Rasmussen, and his sisters Judy and Ella Jean.

Funeral services will be held Saturday August 8th at 11am at 2679 S. 1000 W, Syracuse, UT 84075.
