William Wesley Hatch

William Wesley Hatch “Wes”, 81 years old of Layton, Utah, passed away on August 1, 2026, in his home with his son by his side. After 8 years of waiting, Wes joins his sweetheart, Carol (Argyle) Hatch ‘just beyond the moon’. A reunion with his parents, Philander Ford Hatch and Alice (Winegar) Hatch along with his siblings, Richard Ford Hatch and Barbara Hatch (Bangerter) and many other friends and family.

He grew up in Bountiful Utah. He was honored for his service in the United States Navy from 1962 to 1965. He began his civil service in 1967 with the Air Force, Hill Air Force Base, Utah. Wes was a Nondestructive Inspection Technician and was recognized for 40 years of professional and dedicated service.

Wes enjoyed hunting with his dog Elmer in the early years and fishing with his sweetheart after retiring. His yard was the place where he would spend his time planting a garden and tending to roses, canna lilies, and bamboo. So many memories were made in that backyard. He loved red cars and talked about driving fast with his cousin’s Corvette.

His greatest love was his family which began with 4 children, Kimberly, Brooke (Reno), Corby (Kristy) and Lacey (Colby). His grandchildren were his pride and joy! Melissa, Alisha (Cadence), Mike, Stephanie (David), Hailee, Brittany, Josie, Dylan, Evan, Lucy, Weston (Abby), Garrett, and Jaxon. His great-grandchildren mean the world to him. JJ, Brexlee, Bailee, Gage, Shaylee, Kysen, Lyric, Aiden, Ember, Ellison, Atticus, Olivia, Lorelai, Lennon, and Waylon.

Wes had a song for every one of his kids. It was a rhyming chant about their name, a place they came from or something funny that made you smile. He never left without saying, “Don’t forget I love you.” His heart was bigger than the average dad/grandpa. He was one of a kind. We will remember his blue eyes and his smile. We will miss his jokes and even his stubbornness. His legacy will live on in the family he and Carol created.

A viewing will be held at Russon Mortuary, 295 N. Main Street, Bountiful, Utah, on Thursday, August 6, 2026, from 10 to 11 a.m. followed by a graveside service at the Bountiful City Cemetery, 2224 South 200 West, Bountiful, Utah, at 11:30 a.m. Memories may be shared in the "Guestbook" on this obituary page.
