William Terry Gregory, affectionately known as Terry and later in life as “Geepa” (a loving variation of Grandpa), passed away peacefully in his sleep at his home in Bountiful, Utah, on Sunday, October 18, 2026.
Geepa is survived by his former wife, Linda B. Gregory; his son, Randall S. Gregory; his daughter, Cheryl, and her husband, James Williams; his daughter, Jennifer, and her husband, Boyd Adams; and his son, Timothy, and his wife, Chandelle Gregory. He also leaves behind five grandchildren: Emma Adams, Joshua Gregory, Eva Edge, Zachary Sturms, and Nicholas Sturms; and 4 great-grandchildren, Rowan and Alvie, children of Nicholas, and Hunter and Hayden, children of Eva.
Geepa was preceded in death by his biological father, Paul Gregory, who passed away when Terry was an infant; his stepfather, Vernon Scott; his mother, Clara Byrd Scott; his younger brother, Vernon Lee Scott; and his sister, Pat.
During his working years, Terry spent more than 30 years as a chemist with Monsanto, putting his technical knowledge and natural problem-solving abilities to good use. He began his career in the St. Louis area before transferring to New Jersey, where he met Linda and began raising a family.
In 2007, Terry moved to Utah to begin a new chapter of life following his divorce. He quickly became involved with First Presbyterian Church, where he found friendship, fellowship, and a place to faithfully serve the Lord. He became a devoted member of the church family and served as a deacon, giving freely of his time, his energy, his resources, and his heart.
Until last summer, Geepa could be found enjoying his daily walks and bicycle rides, no matter the season—winter, spring, summer, or fall. Some days, one bike ride simply wasn't enough, and he'd head out for a second! He thoroughly enjoyed regular skiing and golfing outings with his friends.
In a world that can often feel uncertain and chaotic, Geepa was someone you could always trust and count on, both as a father and as a friend. He was the very definition of dependability. If he said he would be there, you could count on him arriving early, ready to help, and staying until the work was done.
His legacy of integrity, strength, love, patience, and kindness will be remembered by his family and friends.
We, his children, loved him dearly and miss him deeply. Until we meet again Dad…”in the sweet by and by”.
Terry’s Celebration of Life will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, November 21, 2026, at New Creation Church, 8700 Sandy Pkwy, Sandy, Utah 84070. Phone: 801-272-2207
