William "Bill" Devon Black

William (Bill) Devon Black, beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, lived a long happy life passing away peacefully on 30 June 2025 in Provo, Utah, after a short illness. Born 28 October 1930 in Deseret, Utah, to Reuben Lavon Black and Juanita Palmer, William lived a life marked by devotion to his family, the LDS faith, and hard work.

William shared an enduring and loving marriage with his sweetheart Belva Jean Jess for 54 years. Together he and Belva built a strong and cherished family raising 11 children. Naomi Black, William Douglas (Barbara) Black, Paul (Marlena, Dianna) Black, Gary (Debbie) Black, Duane (Mindy) Black, Aaron (Amy) Black, Janell Black, Lyle (DeeAnn) Black, Ranee (Ken) Ferbrache, Janee (Larry) Shepherd, Leah (Daren Redden, Bobby) Colson. William took great pride and joy in his posterity always smiling ear to ear when he talked about his 35 grandchildren and more than 100 great-grandchildren. After Belva passed away, he married his current wife Jeneil.

William was a devoted member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Alongside Jeneil, he served a successful mission at Nauvoo, Illinois. Their service reflected a shared commitment to faith, love, and lifting others wherever they were called to minister.

He learned the value of hard work while growing up on a farm in central Utah, helping raise turkeys and later easily handling a cinder block in each hand weighing over 100 lbs apiece. He enlisted in the Air Force serving in Aviation Electronics as a Corporal that positioned him for extensive knowledge and experience in the electrical and electronics field. He earned a 4-year bachelor degree in 1971 from SUSC in Cedar City, Utah. He owned and managed his TV electronics repair business in St George for many years. He was a master at fixing anything home or automotive that was broken, getting it to work again, and last longer. He passed this legacy onto his children along with hard work and no excuses for not getting it done! He always put 100% effort to support his large family, sacrificing his own comforts for the best of the family. He never complained about not having enough worldly things but was committed to storing up treasures in Heaven for the Eternities. His later years were filled with the love for the Temples of the Lord serving as a worker and patron. He spent every day in Family Search finding ancestors that needed Temple ordinances preformed, printing name cards, and performing work for their salvation in the Temple. His greatest hobby was his endless love for family and his posterity, always striving to spend as much time as possible with them supporting their interests and activities.

We remember him for his lifetime spent with all his living posterity, his patriotism for his country and our freedoms, and pride for all his ancestors that paved the way for a family legacy of love and devotion to our Heavenly Father and Savior Jesus Christ.

His loving wife Belva, daughter Naomi Belva, son William Douglas, daughter-in-law Marlena, son-in-law Daren, and great-grandson William Liam Gideon Ferbrache preceded William in death, as well as his parents and three siblings, Betty Joan, David Arlo, and Ila Mae.

Funeral services will be Saturday, 12 July 2025 at 11 AM in the LDS Chapel, 900 West 2150 North, Provo, Utah 84604. Family and friends may visit before the funeral between 9:00 and 10:30 AM. Interment will be at 3 PM at the Farmington City Cemetery.
