Wilford Thomas "Bill" Jeppson, age 78, passed away peacefully on June 15, 2026, surrounded by the love of his family. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, disciple of Jesus Christ, and friend, whose life was defined by faith, family, service, and love.
Bill was born on February 15, 1948, in San Mateo, California, to Paul and Marcella Jeppson. He grew up in Northern California, where he developed a lifelong love for the San Francisco Giants and the Bay Area. He attended the University of California, Berkeley, before serving a mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Germany. His mission remained close to his heart throughout his life, and he often reflected on the people, relationships, and lessons that came from serving there.
Above all earthly blessings, Bill treasured his 55-year marriage to the love of his life, Janice. They were married in the Oakland California Temple and built a home centered on faith, family, service, and unconditional love. Together they raised six children: Janel (Johnny), Zach (Kelly), Steven (Brooke), Michelle (Benson), Laura, and Caitlin (Jared).
One of Bill's greatest joys was being Grandpa to his twelve grandchildren: Dylan (Halle), Brooklyn (Riley), Sydnee (Calyn), Jeremy (Marissa), Avery, Ryan, Cohen, Wyatt, Sayler, Holden, Harper, and Miles.
Bill worked for Allstate Insurance for 38 years. One of the decisions he was most proud of was retiring at age 63, so he could spend more time with Janice, his children, and especially his grandchildren. Family was never something Bill fit into his schedule; family was his schedule.
A lifelong and faithful member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Bill always remained worthy to enter the temple. After retirement, he spent many years volunteering at the Deseret Mill and Pasta Plant in Kaysville, Utah, helping provide food products for Church and humanitarian efforts throughout the world.
Bill loved baseball and rarely missed an opportunity to support his children and grandchildren in their activities. Whether it was a game, recital, school event, or milestone, Bill showed up.
One of his family's favorite memories came when they gathered together to watch the Giants Win the World Series in 2014. Bill had tears in his eyes—not simply because the Giants had won, but because his entire family was together. Moments like that, captured what mattered most to him.
Bill was known for his competitive spirit, quick wit, and willingness to challenge conventional thinking. If everyone in the room leaned one direction, Bill often leaned the other—not to create conflict, but to ensure every perspective was considered. He loved serving others, especially his family. Whenever someone thanked him for helping, he would smile and respond, "Nothing to it."
Bill's legacy lives on through his beloved wife, Janice; his children and grandchildren; and the countless family members, friends, neighbors, and church members whose lives were blessed by his example. He was preceded in death by his parents, Paul and Marcella Jeppson, and his brother, Bob Jeppson. He now joins his beloved grandson, Holden.
Though he will be deeply missed, his family finds comfort in the gospel of Jesus Christ and in the knowledge that families can be together forever.

If you want to know what kind of father and grandfather Bill was, look at the children and grandchildren who will gather to lay him to rest. He spent a lifetime showing up for them, and they will be there to honor him and show up for him one final time.
