Velma Mae (Mathie) Goldsberry Jenson passed away peacefully at the age of 87, on April 26, 2026. She was surrounded by her devoted family. Velma will be remembered and missed by those who knew her best for her devotion to her family, faith, God, and country. She was an example of dignity, grace, and love.
Velma was born on May 17, 1938, to LaMont Merrill Mathie and LaRue Ardell (Jackman) Mathie. She grew up on a farm where she learned hard work. She attended grade school in Rose, Idaho, graduated from Blackfoot High School and went on to attend Ricks College and Brigham Young University.
In 1960, she married Robert W. Goldsberry. They are the parents of five children, Lori Ann (Ryan) Walker, Linda Kaye (Bryant) Morgan, Bradley R. (Carol) Goldsberry, Gregory M. (Masami) Goldsberry, and Cameron M. Goldsberry.
In 1988, Velma married Sidney L. Jenson in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. They enjoyed 27 wonderful years together. His children are Lori S. (Kurt) Debrouwer, Konnor S. (Jeff) Jenson, Jennifer S. (Spencer) Clark, Shelly S. Jenson, Rebecca S. (Arthur) Petersen, and Emily S. (Sam) Miller. Velma and Sid were blessed with 35 grandchildren and 17 great grandchildren. They shared many adventures as they travelled the world together.
She gave her time, effort, and heart to The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints where she served in many capacities, including serving as an ordinance worker in the Bountiful, Utah Temple, and a missionary in Siberia, Russia with Sidney. She and Sidney loved to gather their friends and family together for dinner to hear about their latest achievements and adventures.
Velma is survived by her children, stepchildren, grandchildren, great grandchildren, and two brothers, F. Lee Mathie, and Ray Mathie. She was preceded in death by her husband, Sidney, her parents, and brother, Monty L. Mathie.
A viewing will be held Friday, May 1, from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m., at the Russon Mortuary, 1941 N. Main Street, Farmington, Utah. Her funeral service will be held on Saturday, May 2, at 11:00 a.m. with a viewing prior to the service from 9:30-10:30 a.m. at the LDS Rock Chapel, 272 N. Main Street, Farmington, Utah. Grave site dedication will follow at the Farmington City Cemetery.
