Valynn Beasley

January 9, 1939 — May 8, 2019

Valynn Roberts Beasley, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend, passed from this life on Wednesday, May 8, 2019 from Alzheimer’s.  She was born in Afton, Wyoming on January 9, 1939, the sixth of seven children of Everal Llewellyn Roberts and Gladys Mary (Wright) Roberts and raised in Etna, Wyoming.  She met her eternal companion, Melvin, in Salt Lake City, Utah.  They were married on her 21st birthday, January 9, 1960 and later sealed in the Salt Lake Temple on September 18, 1961, celebrating 59 anniversaries together.  They welcomed three daughters and one son into their lives, all of whom were loved and taught the gospel.  After being married, they started out in a small apartment and later rented a house in Murray, Utah.  After a short while, they bought a home in Rose Park where they raised their family for 21 years and then moved to Kaysville, Utah, where they have resided for the last 34 years.

Valynn had a love for music and began piano lessons when she was just five years old.  She became an accomplished pianist and had a beautiful singing voice.  She played and sang in many choirs and musicals, at weddings and funerals, and in many church meetings throughout her life.  She attended Star Valley High School and later completed one year at Weber State College.  She enjoyed camping in the mountains (especially in Star Valley), fishing, boating and water skiing with her family, but most of all she loved cooking, cleaning and taking care of her home and family.

Valynn loved the Lord and served in many church callings, including the Relief Society, Young Women and Primary presidencies.  She faithfully supported her husband for three and a half years as he served in the Bishopric and then as Bishop for another four years.  She was a faithful daughter of God with a strong testimony of the Gospel.  She relied heavily on prayer and the scriptures to teach her family honesty, integrity and the value of hard work.  She lived her life as she taught and was a shining example of these traits.

Valynn is survived by her husband, Melvin, children, Christine (Rusty) Winter, Nancy (Mike) McKay, Melanie (Bart) Deters and Paul (Penny) Beasley; her brothers Wright and Teddy, 17 grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren.  She was reunited once again with her parents, Everal and Gladys, her Brothers Charles and McKay, and Sisters Yvonne and LaWanna.

We would like to give special thanks to all of the nurses, aids and other staff at Fairfield Village Memory Care for taking such good care of Valynn and Melvin for the past few months.  Also, we express a special heartfelt thank you to Legacy Health Care, especially Korie and her staff, for the loving care of Valynn in her last few days before returning home to her Heavenly Father.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday, May 14, 2019 at 11:00 am in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints Chapel, 855 East Mutton Hollow Road, Kaysville, Utah.  Friends and family are invited to visit Monday evening, May 13, 2019, 6-8 pm at Russon Mortuary, 1941 North Main Street in Farmington, and Tuesday morning 9:30-10:30 am prior to the funeral services held in the Chapel.  Interment will follow at the Kaysville City Cemetery.
