1959 Valerie 2025

Valerie Jean Dicks

January 22, 1959 — July 27, 2025

Valerie Jean Dicks (Clayton) passed away on Sunday July 27th at her home in Layton, UT and was reunited with her baby daughter, her sweet brother and loving parents. Valerie was married to her sweetheart and best friend, Michael J Dicks, on July 30, 1983 and was sealed in the Salt Lake City Temple a year later. Since the day they met, they loved each other deeply through every up and down that life threw at them. During their 42 years of marriage they welcomed 5 beautiful children into the world, to which Valerie poured her heart and soul into loving and raising. They were her pride and joy and she dedicated her life to caring for them. Later in life she worked for the Davis School District as P.E. teacher, computer\ teacher, and as a special education para. She was a dedicated member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints and served in many callings and was always finding ways to serve everyone she came into contact with.

She was truly head over heels in love with her eight grandchildren - Jackson, Clayton, Brynlee, Cameron, Dallon, Carlee, Evelyn and Juliet. She would spend hours on end cultivating a sense of imagination and creativity with them through playing games, doing crafts and reminding them of their importance in this world. She loved to travel with her husband, and always looked forward to camping trips with her kids and grandkids. Her grandkids would often disappear for hours inside grandma and grandpa’s camper to spend quality time with Grandma. It didn’t matter what they did, they just wanted to be around her loving and caring presence. She always made it a priority to attend as many of her grandchildren’s sporting events and activities as she possibly could. They love her dearly and will miss her deeply.

Valerie was raised in Half Moon Bay, California. She was born to her parents, Albert & Barbara Clayton. Later in life, the family moved to Utah, where Valerie met the love of her life.

She was a sister to 4 brothers, Tom Clayton (Karen), Ricky Clayton (preceded her in death), Barry Clayton (Melody), Bob Bullock (Shane), and a mother to 5, Sarah Sawyer (Chase), Tiffanie Zaugg (Mike), Jaron Dicks, Haylee Dicks (preceded her in death), and Payden Dicks.
