Trelba Virginia Branch was born April 6, 1942, in Moultrie, Georgia, to Samuel and Ouida Branch. Raised in southern Georgia, she proudly claimed to be the fastest kid in fourth grade. She attended Middle Tennessee State College, where she met William Wallace “Wally” Cantrell III. He worked in the cafeteria and rumor has it he was impressed by how much food she could eat. They married on July 2, 1965.
In March of 1970, they welcomed their first child, Kathryn, who passed away at age two after health challenges. Seeking peace and answers, Trelba and Wally joined The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and were baptized in July 1973. Her faith became a source of strength and hope throughout her life. They continued to grow their family, adding six more children: Samuel, Jonathan, Emma, Stephen, Spencer, and Sarah.
Trelba was a strong, determined woman who commanded respect and rarely sat still. She loved a clean home, made her bed every morning, and always took pride in her appearance. She also loved music and had a beautiful alto voice. Selfless and hardworking, she taught her children by example and gathered her family daily for scripture study and prayer. Her greatest hope was an eternal family with all seven of her children.
Trelba passed away peacefully on October 10, 2026, at age 84. She was preceded in death by her daughter, Katie; sister, Sylvia; and parents.
She is survived by her husband, Wally; children Sam (Janiel), Jonathan, Emma (Michael) Christiansen, Stephen (Julie), Spencer (Kimberly), and Sarah (Greg) Stowell; 29 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. Her legacy of faith, perseverance, hard work, and unconditional love will live on for generations.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, October 17 at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints located at 695 S 200 E, Farmington, UT 84025. They will begin with a viewing at 10am followed by the funeral services at 11am.
