Todd Lorren Barrett

Aug 18, 1973 — Jun 21, 2026

Rarely does a gentle giant grace your life. Our family is blessed to call Todd Lorren Barrett our champion and hero.

Born August 18, 1973, Todd faced a multitude of complex medical issues and disabilities that we are sure he was never fully aware of. The purity of his heart, his ability to make friends wherever he went, and his kindness and unwavering goodness will be greatly missed.

Todd was blessed with an extraordinary artistic talent and if you were lucky enough to score one of his calendars full of intricate and detailed hand-drawn pictures, may you realize the treasure you have.

Todd grew up in Sandy, Utah, before moving to South Jordan, and eventually to Cedar City. He attended Jordan Valley School, Mt. Jordan Middle School, and Hillcrest High School. He enjoyed going to Camp Kostopulos, HandiCamp, and Special Olympics throughout his life.

Todd defied all odds. For 52 years he baffled the vast medical teams that cared for him. He overcame more than anyone should have to endure. He was perfect in so many ways. His ability to trust, see the good in people, and his undeniable bond with animals was truly remarkable.

Gifted with an incredible memory and recall, Todd often started his conversations with, “Remember when…”

Todd loved his family, friends, animals, Special Olympics, soda, homemade meals, hockey, drawing, the music of Michael W. Smith, and every person he ever met.

On the morning of June 21, 2026, Todd left his earthly body, and heaven truly gained the most perfect new angel. He was surrounded by his family.

Todd is survived by his devoted parents, Mike and RaeAnn Barrett; his sister Trachelle (Berk King); his brothers Jason (Stefanie), Shawn, and Brian (Amber); his nephews Spencer, Ethan, Noah, and Tayden; and his nieces Annie and Emily.

Our family is deeply grateful to the staff members at Chyrsalis for the care, friendship, and support they have given Todd over the last 20 years, the medical teams who cared for him, and for the many life-long neighbors and friends who made up Todd’s inner circle. May you be blessed for the kindness, patience, and compassion you showed our beloved Todd. Through the wonder and reach of social media, support of strangers, and generosity of Ryan Smith and Chris Armstrong, Todd will be wearing a Utah Mammoth goalie jersey for eternity.

Though our hearts are broken and we feel your loss so deeply Todd, we find comfort knowing that you are now free and whole. We are forever grateful for the blessing you have been to our family and for the example you set of unconditional love. We promise to honor your memory the rest of our days.
