Thomas Dale Jones

January 30, 1934 — April 6, 2022

On Wednesday, April 6, 2022, Thomas Dale Jones, loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather passed away peacefully at the age of 88. Thomas was born on January 30, 1934, in Salt Lake City, Utah to William Richards Jones and Agnes DeGooyer. He was the youngest of 5 children.
He married his eternal companion, Janice Albrand Jones, on March 20, 1959, sealed for time and all eternity in the Salt Lake Temple. They are proud parents of three children. Thomas graduated from South High School in 1952. Was on the track team as a broad jumper at South High and University of Utah. He graduated from University of Utah in 1960 with a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering. He served in the U.S. Army. Thomas worked for Department of Defense at Hill Air Force Base and retired after 33 years of service. He was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served an honorable mission in the Netherlands, the homeland of his mother. He served as Scoutmaster and in many other church callings through the years. He also served as an ordinance worker in the Bountiful Utah Temple.
Thomas loved his family and the outdoors. He took his family snow skiing, camping, fishing, and hiking. He and mom attended baby blessings, baptisms, weddings, birthdays, ball games, dance recitals, school performances, and graduations. He loved watching Utah Jazz and University of Utah basketball. He also enjoyed his daily run and in later years his daily walk, crossword puzzles, photography, listening to jazz music, playing the piano, composing, painting, sketching, and doing family history work.
Thomas is survived by his loving children: Cynthia (Kevin) Peay, Centerville, UT; Catharine (Jerry) Allen, Bountiful, UT; Michael (Bonnie) Jones, Herriman, UT; 9 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren; sister-in-law’s: Marilyn Jones and Carol Lloyd, and a loving extended family. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Janice Albrand; sister, Norma Walker; brothers, Wesley Rey, Cleve Royce, Mervin Wayne, and William Dean; sister-in-laws Sibyl Jones, and Lavon Jones; brother-in-law, Virgil Walker.
A viewing and funeral services will be held on Saturday, April 16, 2022, at the Woods Cross 3rd Ward building, 1450 South 350 West, Bountiful, UT. Viewing 9:45-10:45am. Funeral services at 11:00am. Interment at the Bountiful City Cemetery, 2224 South 200 West, Bountiful.
