Tevita Sitelimani Mafi

Tevita Sitelimani Mafi Taufa of Bountiful, Utah, returned to Heaven on October 29th, 2023. He passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his children and grandchildren.

He was born July 30th, 1937, in Kolofo'ou Tongatapu, to Sione Mafi Taufa of Te'ekiu & Kolomotu'a and Sela Tu'itupou of Masilamea, Houma, Kolomotu'a.

He owned a self-employed landscaping company for 25 years and then worked for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints for 10 years and then retired 2004.
 
Tevita married the love of his life Siosiane Taemanisa Taukinukufili October 14th, 1959. They were later sealed at the Oakland Temple on September 7th, 1985.

He was a temple worker for the Oakland Temple for many years. He was called to be the first Bishop for the Oakgrove 3rd Tongan Ward where he served for 4 years.

He held many callings in the Church and served a couple mission with his wife in Mataika Vava'u and Hofoa Tongatapu from 1967-1969.

Tevita loved many sports but especially tennis. One of his favorite things to do was watching his grandkids play sports. Tevita served his family, community, and friends selflessly.

He was a God-fearing, compassionate, and a humble person.

He is survived by his four children, Tevita Moahengi Mafi, Paleti Taufa, Kesaia Tautu'u Vea, and Aiveni Mosese Taufa, and many grandkids & great grandkids. He also left behind three sisters and one brother: Kasanita Launga of Sydney, Australia; Melemafi Prescott of Auckland, New Zealand; Leilani Donghi of Brisbane, Australia; and Sione Mafi Taufa of Brisbane, Australia.

Tevita will be sorely missed by his families and loved ones.

A wake will be held from 6:00-9:30 p.m. on Friday, November 3, 2023, at the Bountiful 6th Ward, 3350 South 100 East, Bountiful, Utah. A family viewing will be held from 8:00-11:00 a.m. on Saturday, November 4, 2023, at the church, followed by a funeral service at 11:30 a.m. Interment at Bountiful City Cemetery.
