Terry Lyn Neil Murray, a devoted mother, grandmother, teacher, and adventurer, passed away peacefully on October 25, 2025, at the Huntsman Cancer Hospital in Salt Lake City, Utah, following a valiant, though swift, fight with gallbladder cancer. She was 71 years old.
Born in Pocatello, Idaho, on June 4, 1954, to Jack and Paula Neil, Terry grew up with a generous spirit and an unwavering drive to learn and nurture. She married the love of her youth, Douglass John Murray, on July 13, 1973, in the Logan Temple. They started their family in California, welcoming their son Clinton Douglass, before moving to Sandy, Utah, where they had Casey Edwin and Randie Lyn and launched a business, Prime Machine Inc. The family eventually settled in Centerville, Utah, where they completed their vibrant family of eight with the births of Aaron Neil, Dayna Lyn, JeNeil Lyn, RaeLyn Neil, and Russell Neil. After her marriage to Doug concluded, Terry found a life partner in Edward Marchetti, sharing many fun adventures, including time at their home in Sandpoint and traveling to many beautiful places.
The central focus of Terry’s life was raising her eight rambunctious and lively children. She approached motherhood as a sacred calling, dedicating herself fully to ensuring each of her children was raised to be a self-sufficient individual. She fostered their unique talents with boundless energy, signing them up for everything from cross-stitching and synchronized swimming to figure skating, hockey, white water rafting, and learning to play the piano and accordion. She famously told her children, “We will try anything until we find something you enjoy.” Terry instilled in them the lifelong values of hard work and taking care of each other and themselves, and she was fiercely proud of all eight of them.
Terry was also committed to her own growth and education. At the age of 55, she proudly completed her bachelor’s of science in Health promotion. She loved teaching, whether as a substitute in the Granite School District, where she cherished helping kids and making a difference, or as an instructor for Optistretch. She helped her brother, Ed Neil, publish and promote the book, Optistretch.
In her free time, Terry enjoyed sewing, playing the guitar, ice skating, and swimming. She was always learning and was just beginning to teach herself to play the Autoharp. She delighted in playing games with her 19 grandchildren and spending time with her dear friend, Ann. Her faith was important to her, and she loved attending the Bridge Community Church and taking her grandchildren with her on Sundays. It was important to Terry to see all her children and grandchildren achieve their education or trade goals, and she lovingly supported them in developing their talents.
Terry is survived by her life partner, Edward Marchetti; her eight children: Clinton (Kelli), Casey (Monica), Randie (Jon), Aaron (Amber), Dayna (Tucker), JeNeil (Kenneth), RaeLyn (Anthony), and Russell (Ashleigh). She is also survived by her brother Jay (Krysti) and sister Jerry (Wade), nineteen beloved grandchildren (DJ, Tyson, Mati, Braiden, Mitchell, Jaxon, Jessie, Cole, Carter, Stockton, Boston, Tate, Pasiley, Kohen, Kade, Miles, McKinley, Weston, and Addie), and one great-grandchild, Dayton, as well as many extended family members.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Jack and Paula Neil, her brother Ed, and many aunts and uncles. Terry will be greatly missed by all who were blessed to know her.
The family would Like to thank her Neighbors and the staff at Huntsman for taking great care of their mother.
