Terry Steven Dabel

Terry Steven Dabel, born October 26, 1941, in Logan, Utah, to Ronald Dabel and Pearl Irene Herzog, peacefully passed away on October 18, 2025 with his wife by his side. He grew up in Afton, Wyoming, where he graduated from Star Valley High School in 1960 and developed a lifelong love for the outdoors—hunting alongside his father and brother, fishing and exploring the mountains. A faithful member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Terry served a mission in the California/Nevada Mission and always loved missionary work. He later served in both the Army National Guard and Air Force Reserves. He worked at Hill Air Force Base for 18 years. He later worked as an armored truck driver and in armed security. His precision, organization and strong work ethic made him both dependable and well respected.

Terry married Coleen Mattingly Green in 1968. They raised six children and were later divorced. On August 14, 1990, he married Marianne Jensen, with whom he shared a deep and enduring love. They were later sealed in the Logan Utah Temple and made their home in North Salt Lake. Terry found joy in hunting, fishing, camping, ballroom dancing and sharing stories and time with loved ones. He ran marathons, half-marathons and other races, always giving it his best.

He was preceded in death by his parents, siblings Roxie Bird, Gary, Peggy, Kim, and eldest son, Steven Terry Dabel, and is survived by his wife Marianne; children, Susan Sanders, David Dabel, Joseph Dabel, Michael Dabel, Adam Dabel; stepchildren, Preston Lockwood and Lara Lockwood; sisters Joy Petersen and Lori Stratton, and many grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Above all, Terry was a man of faith, integrity and devotion. He held a strong testimony of the Prophet Joseph Smith and of the restored gospel of Jesus Christ. His life reflected his belief that hard work, humility and love for family are the foundations of true happiness. His life was defined by faith, integrity, humor and devotion to family.

Graveside services will be held at the Logan Cemetery on October 23, 2025 at 2pm.
