Ted Lee Morris, the youngest of seven children was born on August 19, 1932 to Hugh Conwey Morris and Penelope Mary Williams in their home in Ogden, Utah. He was preceded in death by all his siblings. Pearl, Vella, Mary, Hugh Conwey (Con), James Delos (Dee), and Eva Jean.
Following his service as a Navy officer during the Korean War, Ted pursued his education, graduating from Brigham Young University in 1954 with a degree in Psychology and a minor in English. In 1957, he found his eternal companion, Rosemary, and they were sealed in the Los Angeles Temple of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He continued his studies at Weber College and the University of Washington Dental School. Ted and Rosemary moved to Indio, California, where they established his dental practice, built their home, and raised their five children on the ranch. Following his retirement, they moved to Woodland, Utah.
A faithful member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Ted served in many callings including Branch President, Bishop and Stake High Counsel in Indio, California. He was a dedicated Home Teacher, ministering to many cherished friends. Together with Rosemary, they served as ordinance workers in the San Diego California temple, and later as a missionary couple in Manilla, Philippines. As the beloved patriarch of his family, Ted's greatest legacy was the love he shared and the righteous example he set for his children and grandchildren. His special connection to his grandchildren was evident in the unique nicknames he lovingly bestowed upon each one.
While Ted had many hobbies, his greatest joy was spending time with his family on the ranch. He was a dedicated farmer, rancher, and cowboy, but his truest passion was being a supportive and involved dad. He always enlisted the family to help with outdoor projects like cleaning horse corrals, trimming trees, and irrigating, finding a way to make work feel like fun. His children will forever cherish the laughter and conversation they shared with him during these projects. Ted had a practical, hardworking nature, and it was often said he could fix anything with a piece of wire or heal any wound with black salve. He was happiest with dirt under his boots, a dog by his side, and the familiar scent of the barn surrounding him. His 1962 Jeep and his horses weren't just hobbies; they were extensions of his rugged, kind, and loyal spirit.
His hands were rarely idle, as he was a natural artist with a talent for drawing, making jewelry, leather working and dancing. He was also a gifted poet and a master at weaving a joke into every conversation. He loved to cook and was famous for “momma-gone”, New Year’s Eve scampi and delicious malt shakes.
Ted's passing leaves a great sadness in the hearts of all who knew him. He was deeply loved and will be remembered forever. Survivors include his wife of 68 years, Rosemary Morris and five children Matt Hugh (Pamela) Morris, Guy Ted (Melanie) Morris, Rebecca Lee (Michael) Jensen, Adam Dee (Beth) Morris, Sunny Mary (Darin) Ralph, 20 grandchildren and 17 great grandchildren.
