Sylvia Lewis

Our sweet wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend Sylvia Lewis passed away from stage 4 pancreatic cancer on December 18, 2022, at home surrounded by her family.  She was born on June 17, 1954, in Robstown, Texas to Ascencion Vera and Raquel Acuna Vera. 
She faithfully served a full-time mission in southern Mexico.  Her devotion to The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints was unwavering. 
She loved Dr. Pepper, her family (especially her two grandkids Cooper and Briggs) and friends more than life itself. She enjoyed scrapbooking, reading, cooking, camping on the beach near San Diego, cheering for the U and teasing the people she cared about most.  She enjoyed working with the young women in the Young Women's organization and also teaching Primary.  One of her favorite things was spending time with her siblings and their families enjoying each other's company.
She worked as a Certified Clinical Research Coordinator at the University of Utah Mood Disorders Clinic for over 20 years where she worked on clinical drug trials and made a life long friend in Ruth Mestas.  She also worked on clinical drug trials at Utah Cancer Specialists for several years.
She left the world a better place and we will miss her deeply.  She is survived by her loving husband Ronald, daughter Raquel (Trevor) Huntington, son Ryan, and siblings Diana (John) Lopez, Angie (Brent) Nash, Eden (Jennifer) Vera, Shirley (Donald) Lewis, James (Trixie) Vera, Betty Higley, JR (Kristine) Vera. She was preceded in death by her mother Raquel Acuna Vera, in-laws Waldo and Ethelane Lewis and brother in-law Dale Higley.  The family would like to thank the amazing doctors and nurses of the University of Utah Hospital Area E 5th Floor and the wonderful nurses at Huntsman at Home for their loving care for our wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend. 
There will be a funeral service at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, December 23, 2022, at the LDS chapel at 2633 South 50 West, Bountiful, Utah, 84010. A viewing will be held from 6:00-8:00 p.m. Thursday, December 22, at Russon Mortuary located at 295 North Main Street, Bountiful, Utah, 84010. A second viewing will be held at the chapel from 9:30-10:30 a.m. on Friday morning prior to services. Interment: Bountiful City Cemetery.
