Susan Kay Sellers was born May 16, 1951, in Salt Lake City, UT to Donald David Sellers and Joan Renee Hepworth. She passed away November 26, 2025 surrounded by her loved ones.
She was the oldest of seven children.
During her younger years she developed a love of horses. She loved her horse named Pet. When she was seven years old her younger brother Steven was hit and killed by a car. This single event shaped her life in so many ways.
She loved sports. Especially Volleyball and Softball.
She married Lyn Herbert Wheeler on October 9, 1970 in the Salt Lake Temple.
They were blessed (or cursed) with nine children and nothing was ever the same. Mom and Dad endured countless ball games, plays, orchestra and band programs, not with just their children, but they tried to make it to all of the grandchildren’s activities as well. We are still scratching our heads trying to figure out how either one of them survived nine kids.
Mom had many church callings. She served for a very long time in the scouting program. The boys loved having her as their Scout leader. She always did the coolest activities. She served as the Activity Days leader and the girls learned a lot from her, like how to plan their own fun activities. Mom was an excellent Visiting Teacher/Ministering Sister and taught us all how to fulfill our callings to the best of our ability.
Mom was the PTA president at Western Hills Elementary school for many, many years. Even after all her kids graduated, she served while her grandkids went there. The kids at the school loved it. Her kids not so much. This is how the term “Voluntold” was coined. We cannot even express how many times we were voluntold that we were helping at the school carnivals or STEM nights.
Mom loved her pioneer heritage and served as President of her Daughter’s of the Utah Pioneers Camp.
Mom and her brother Randy loved doing genealogy, because of their efforts many of our family’s names are available and have had their temple work done.
Mom attended the temple weekly for many, many years, and had a temple group of ladies she went with who she loved so very much.
Mom loved the temple. She and dad made a goal to go to all of the United States temples. At the time of her passing she had done ordinance work in all but two of the temples.
Mom was diagnosed with ALS on October 24, 2024 and she decided she was going to fight as hard as she could and live the best life she could with that disease. From the time dad passed away in April 2024 to the time she passed away she visited 12 new to her temples including Red Cliffs, UT, McAllen TX, Moses Lake WA, Rome, Italy, Madrid, Spain, Layton UT, Syracuse UT, Taylorsville UT, Casper WY, Farmington NM, Elko NV, and Grand Junction CO which she did just 4 weeks prior to her passing.
She lived so much life in the 13 months since her diagnosis. She really was an example of faith and goodness, and maintained a positive attitude throughout.
She loved Heavenly Father and the Savior very much and her life reflected that. She bore testimony with the life she lived. We love her so much and are going to miss her terribly, but we are so grateful that she is no longer bound by her earthly body and that she is with dad once again.
Susan is survived by Children: Kori (Chris) Blanchard, Lance (Kara) Wheeler, Laif (Sarah) Wheeler, Jeremy (Heather) Wheeler, Erin (Tim) West, Kami Wheeler, Ian (Clarisa) Wheeler, Kirstin (Rick) Watson, Kaycee Wheeler, Honorary Children Courtney (Ryan) Sealy, Troy (Becky) Luckart, Adam (Shannon) Luckart, Tim (Leah) Bird; 51 grandchildren, and 8.9 great grandchildren. Mom leaves behind many dear friends that were such a support to her throughout her life. She wanted you all to know she loves you dearly.
She was preceded in death by her parents Donald David Sellers, Joan Renee Hepworth Sellers, Brother Steven Sellers, Sister Jill Sellers, Sister Pam Sellers, Brother-in-law Reed Wheeler, nephews Jory, Heath and Rick Sellers, and her Eternal Companion Lyn Herbert Wheeler, as well as many loved aunts, uncles and grandparents.
The family would like to thank Mom’s hospice helpers from A+ Hospice, Carol Harris and Brock for all the support and love they gave mom in her last days. We would also like to thank mom’s aides at Senior Helpers Emma Ackerman, Micah Gustafson, and Megan Winteron.
