On November 21, 2025, minutes after spending the morning with her daughters and grandchildren at the movies, keeping her promise to make it to see “Wicked For Good,” Susan Nish Trease completed her earthly mission being met at the Rainbow Bridge by her beloved Briggy, and many loved ones who had gone before.
Susan came into this world on October 17, 1960, in Logan, Utah, born to Darrell H. & LaDean Penrod Nish. She was born the middle child, and always teased that she was the favorite, which she reminded us of often with a joking grin. Susan had a tremendous sense of humor and always had a natural ability to break the ice in stressful moments, bringing happiness to all.
Susan had a wide talent for arts and crafts, great inspiration and courage and the love for writing and sharing. She could frequently be found drawing and doodling with her favorite pen, challenging herself to do it right the first time. She loved to write poetry and gave her poems away as gifts to show her recipients the great love and affection she held them in. Each poem contained a deep personal message.
Susan grew up in Bountiful, Utah, and attended Viewmont High School. She loved being on their Gymnastics Team.
Susan married John Reuben Trease on September 7, 1979, in the Salt Lake Temple. They were married for 20 years and loved raising their 2 beautiful daughters. As a family they loved trips to Disneyland, frequent parties, camping, holidays and making memories.
Susan’s love for her Savior was evident in her many church callings and teachings. Including, but not limited to Primary President, Young Women’s Leader and Visiting Teacher.
Susan showed great endurance and strength to the surprise of many doctors, as she faced multiple health challenges for many years. Never losing her determination and will to overcome whatever was dealt to her, her priority was always fighting each battle for her family. The support and strength of her family, especially her daughters, enabled her to defy all odds. Some might say she was “Defying Gravity”.
Susan is survived by her daughters and primary caregivers Janica Sue Trease and Jacalyn Alice Trease. Her Grandchildren Laila Susan, Myles Jansson and Gracie Sue are her pride and joy. And her favorite furry-four-legged child, Miss Mia Mae. She is the most amazing Mother, Grandmother and friend, changing many lives “For Good”. Also survived by her siblings Robert (Diana) Nish, Kimberli (Mike) McNamara, Kyle (Patty) Nish, Malea (Ben) Hansen, Scott (Lynn) Nish, and many nieces and nephews.
Preceded in death by her parents, grandparents and many loved ones who welcomed her home.
Special thanks to her long time Primary Care Physician Dr. Russell Maxwell. The Fresenius Dialysis, Intermountain Home Care, her favorite nurse Fran and many other medical specialists committed to her care.
Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 a.m., with a brief viewing from 9:45-10:45 a.m. prior to services, on Tuesday, December 2, 2025, at the Bountiful North Stake Center, 1540 North 400 East, Bountiful, Utah. All my life I can be sure

When life’s struggles bury me
He will guide me with His love.
