Sue Stringham

We lost our sweet, kind, gentle Grandma Sue early in the morning Sunday, August 30th, 2026. She was surrounded by her kids and her Bobby up until her final breath. Our mom fought a battle no one should ever have to fight. Even though we were all supporting her, we know there were pains and heartaches none of us could see. She held on and quietly battled the storms valiantly and humbly. She was knocked down over and over again and always tried to climb her way back up. This time it was just too big for any of us to fix. We all tried and she really did give it her all but this earthly body was just so tired and ready to move on to the next adventure.

Mom was born on June 8th, 1959 in Nephi, Utah to Carl and Gayle Rasmussen and spent much of her childhood growing up in Mesa, Arizona and Bountiful, Utah. She grew up with her sisters Ann and Jill, and her brother Douglas.

She was a faithful member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints and graduated from Bountiful High School, where she always proudly told us she was a member of the Pep Club. She was also widely known for her role as McDonald’s number one till girl with her own parking spot. Mom met and cherished childhood friends during this time and spent a semester at Snow College and quickly realized she’d rather have a career in acting. Mom worked for Jerry Seiner and was known all over the region as ‘Nancy Newsnotes.’ She had a smile that would light up a room and a laugh that echoes through halls.

Mom met her Bobby while working at the dealership and they were married August 20th, 1982 in the Jordan River temple. Any pictures or videos we have from this time is mom and dad just being absolute goofballs. They loved to take silly selfies, laugh, dance and just had a ball together. Over the next few years they welcomed Colby and Emily. Mom and dad lived in Bountiful, Utah next to lifelong friends and made connections that they didn’t realize would span the eternities. Always laughing and telling crazy stories as they built this beautiful life they worked so hard for. 

Mom convinced dad to join her at the dealership and supported him through a whole career while raising us she always had some side gig going. She was always busy. Whether it was serving at the PTA president, team mom, or Young Women’s president, she was forever living a life of service. After years of yearning for a third child, Heavenly Father finally sent her Alexander Dean. He was a spitfire from the beginning and she adored that little boy. He was her miracle baby and she toted him around all over the place. With the age gap of siblings, Alex became her little sidekick up until her final breath.

Mom worked many different jobs over the years but her greatest accomplishment was always her family. She worked as an executive secretary, office manager and later found a love working reservations for JetBlue where she met some lifelong friends. She loved staying busy and was always looking for the next thing. 

Mom was able to see all ten of her grandchildren be born and they were literally her entire life. She would do anything for her grand babies and would defend them no matter what they had done. She really really didn’t like when we would put them in time out. She would sit with them and cry. With two of her kids’ families living away, she always was planning the next time to come visit. We are so thankful for the memories we have sitting at the beach, Christmas mornings, destination holidays, and dragging her on adventures cursing us the whole time. Her favorite thing to do with the kids was make cookies and give them sugar their parents didn’t know about. 

Mom was the best cook. She made the best rolls, soups and treats and was always sending and saving recipes she wanted to try. Mom loved music and dancing but never wanted to be the center of attention. It was always about the kids. The hole left will never be filled and we just pray the grand babies feel her in ways they never imagined.

Mom was always the most spiritual person in our lives. She loved talking about angels and all the spirits surrounding us always. Now she gets to be one. None of us can picture our life without our mom, our Susie Q, our Grandma Sue, but we all are actively praying that we feel her as much as she has time for. Mom passed peacefully, on her own terms right where it all started, hand in hand with her sweetheart. The sadness we all feel is beyond comprehension and we can’t even say that she would say “don’t cry, be happy, have joy.” I know that she would have her arms around us crying with us. That’s just who she was.

She quietly served, loved, prayed and cared for every single person around her. She had a gift for making everyone feel so incredibly loved and, as we know all too well, that is what will transcend all time and eternity. We pray everyone who felt Sue’s love will continue to spread good in the world in her name.

Sue is survived by her husband and sweetheart Bob, son Colby and his wife Steph, Emily and her husband Craig, and her sidekick, Alex. She is also survived by her ten most precious babies, Jude, Keller, Sam, Oliver, Noah, Karter, Brooks, Cosette, Benny Bob and Aston Sue, many precious friends, siblings, cousins, nieces and nephews, and all of her adopted grandkids who allcalled her Grandma Sue.

Mom is welcomed in the warm open arms of many who have gone before her. Some too soon, just like her. She is celebrated on the other side by her mom and dad and in-laws Dean and Barbara. Alongside three of her very best girlfriends, Gayle, Steph and Rose. We can feel the loud laughter, rowdiness, and celebrations ringing through the halls of heaven. 

We want to thank the nurses, friends, family and caregivers who selflessly shared their love with mom over the last year. Your kindness and service will forever be remembered and we know mom appreciated and genuinely loved each of you so very much. 

A visitation will be held Friday, September 4th, 2026 from 6-8 PM at Russon Mortuary, 295 North Main, Bountiful. The funeral services and a celebration of life will be Saturday, September 5th at 11 AM with a visitation prior to the service from 9:30-10:30 at her home church, 585 E. Center Street, Bountiful.
