Steven Albert Voris 87, passed away August 14, 2005 in Salt Lake City, Utah. Steve was born May 14, 1918 to Roy and Ethel Pabst Voris in Scranton, Penn. He was of rich Dutch heritage dating back to the settlement of Manhattan Island. He attended Keystone College and Penn State, and was an Army Air Corp tail gunner instructor during WWII. He married Gene Yates and adopted a son, Christopher. They later divorced. He was a prominent banker in Scranton, Penn., and was president of the Kiwanis Club in the late 1950?s. Later he traveled and worked in the National Park System and there met Lucille Oblad Stringham. They married in 1970 and later opened the Voris Art Gallery, located off the lobby of the Hotel Utah. Among his many interests, he loved art, books, writing, good food and all things in nature. He enjoyed a good joke, a hot cup of coffee and always had an interesting story of his past experiences. He cared deeply about politics and ran for various political offices. He was a member of the Footprinters Club and of the Catholic Church.

He is survived by his son, Christopher Carma of Modesto, CA, His wife Lucille, and her children, Michael Stringham, Cynthia Dameron, and Susan Wagner, their children and grandchildren. Special thanks to the V.A., Eldercare, St. Josephs Villa, and all who helped care for Steve.

Graveside services will be held on Thursday, August 18, 2005 at 1:00 p.m. at the Utah Veterans Memorial Park, 17111 South Camp Williams Road, Bluffdale, Utah.
