Steven Ray Barker

January 17, 1947 — August 14, 2021

Steven Ray (Billy Bob) Barker was born, January 17, 1947 to Ray Merrill Barker and Iris Ipsen Barker in Brigham City, Utah. He was the oldest of four children.

Steven grew up from the age of two in Malad, Idaho and graduated from Malad High School in 1965 where he joined the Army in 1967. Steven married Sheila Ellen Barfuss on March 9, 1968, three days before he left for a tour of duty in Korea from March 1968 to March 1969. Steven and Sheila served the rest of his enlistment in Des Moines, Iowa before they returned to Salt Lake City and then moving to North Salt Lake in 1972.

Steven drove for Wycoff Trucking until he was hired by Hill Air Force Base. Steven joined the Air National Guard in 1971, then transferred to the Air Force Reserve in 1972. He retired from the Reserve in 2002 and Hill Air Force Base in 2003.

Steven was an avid golfer and developed many golf buddies. He was a very social person who made a lot of friends throughout the years. Steven and Sheila enjoyed traveling in their motor home and had the opportunity to visit 49 states and 10 Canadian provinces/territories.

Steven is survived by his wife, Sheila; daughter: Brandi Rae Barker-Showalter (husband Chet), Steffanie Lyn Barker-Holdstock (husband Joshua); three grandsons: Alexander Holdstock, Kaeden Showalter, and Maxwell Holdstock; two brothers Thayne and Sherman, and his sister Lanette Wilks. Steven is preceded in death by his father Ray, mother Iris, and step-father Nolan Blaisdell.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Monday, August 23, 2021 at Russon Mortuary, 295 North Main, Bountiful, Utah, where a viewing will be held Sunday, August 22, 2021 from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. and Monday morning 8:45-9:45 a.m. prior to services. Interment – Utah Veterans Memorial Park, 17111 South Camp Williams Road, Bluffdale, Utah.
