Steven Ray Fairbourne, beloved brother, uncle, and friend, passed away peacefully at home the morning of August 1, 2025, at the age of 78. Steve had been diagnosed with an aggressive form of lung cancer. He was under the care of Hospice.
Steve was born on November 17, 1946, in Salt Lake City, Utah, to Raymond E. Fairbourne and Ada Stewart. He grew up in Bountiful, Utah, in a large blended family.
He is survived by his brothers and sisters: Lucille Leonard, Mike Fairbourne, Carol Lewis, Gayle Grymes, Wally St. Jeor, Patzy Vanderberg, Perri St. Jeor, and Mark St. Jeor. He also had many nephews, nieces, in-laws, cousins and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents and his brothers Stu Davis and Randy Fairbourne.
Steve worked for many years in construction with his step-dad Wally St. Jeor and with his brothers. After retiring from construction work, Steve worked at Lakeside Golf Course in West Bountiful, Utah, which he loved.
Growing up, Steve was a very good athlete. He excelled at all sports. As an adult, he played in softball, bowling and golf leagues.
While in Jr. High School, Steve gained the nickname “Peanuts.” That name stayed with him all of his life. He graduated from Bountiful High School in 1965.
Steve will be greatly missed by all of us who knew him. Per his request, Steve will be cremated. He has asked that no funeral or memorial service be held.
