Steven S. Carlsen, 76, of Centerville UT, passed away Friday April 25, 2025 after a 5 year battle with ALS (Lou Gehrigs Disease).
He was born September 17, 1948 in Salt Lake City, the oldest son of Clifford N. Carlsen and Helen Elizabeth Smith Carlsen. He graduated from South High School, were he met his wife Marla Gaye Pearson. He and Marla were married in the Salt Lake City Temple on November 30, 1967. He is preceded in death by his parents, Clifford and Helen Carlsen. Together they had three children.
Steven had a zest in life for fast cars, electronics and developed a taste for music over his life. During his high school years. He enjoyed working on his 1956 Chevrolet Bel Aire so that he could prove it’s worth on State Street on Saturday Nights. After graduating high school he attended Weber State University were he obtained an Associates Degree in Electronics and joined his dad at Hill Air Force Base for eleven years. While working at Hill Air Force Base, he volunteered time with South Davis Fire Department and developed a love for the fire service. In 1978 he joined Bountiful City Fire Department and worked his way through the rank until he retired as a Captain in 1998.He enjoyed camping, snowmobiling, and later in life cruising vacations with his family.
He loved working with wood. He built many furniture pieces for family and friends. He and Marla built wood trains that they would donate to children hospitals for Christmas.
He is survived by his loving wife, Marla Carlsen; sons, Steven Jr. (Lesley), Thomas (Mindy), Anthony (Dawn). Also his four grandsons, eight granddaughters and six great grandchildren.
A viewing will be held at Thursday, May 1, 2025 at Russon Mortuary, 295 No Main Bountiful, UT 84010, from 10:30 - 11:30, to be followed by a graveside service at 12:00 p.m. at the Bountiful City Cemetery, located 2224 S 200 W, Bountiful, UT 84010.
