Steven Zabriskie Argyle, age 83, passed away peacefully on October 28, 2026, at Legacy House of Bountiful, where he had lived since January and was cared for with great kindness.
Steve was born on October 19, 1943, in Spanish Fork, Utah, to Frank C. and Lucy Argyle. On June 6, 1964, he married Marlene Faye Childs in the Salt Lake Temple, and together they had three children: Michelle, Suzanne, and Scott.
Innovative, self-educated, and determined, Steve became a pioneer in the buy-here, pay-here car business in Salt Lake City, where he owned and operated his own used car lot, Steve’s Auto and Pro Finance. In his last ten years, he especially enjoyed driving with his son Scott in search of cars to buy and sell. He was always looking for ways to improve himself, learning from the books and teachings of Zig Ziglar, Laura Schlessinger, and Rush Limbaugh, among others.
Above all, his family was everything to him. He loved nothing more than talking with his children and grandchildren about how to succeed in business and in life, and he taught them the value of self-reliance and hard work. He treasured time with his family boating at Lake Powell, having Sunday dinners, cheering on his grandchildren at horse shows and sporting events, and tagging along in the golf cart with his grandsons, always with a Diet coke in hand. He also enjoyed traveling the country with Marlene and the Bus and Biker’s Club.
A man of faith, Steve served in the Bountiful Temple for 15 years. He had a deep love for his Father in Heaven and felt immense gratitude for the blessings he enjoyed. Steve was preceded in death by his parents, Frank and Lucy, and his siblings Phil, Dave, and Lynda. He is survived by his children, Michelle (Dwight), Suzanne, and Scott (Carolee); many beloved grandchildren, and great-grandchildren; and his brother, Craig (Ranae).
A viewing will be held Tuesday, November 3, from 9:30-10:45 a.m. at Russon Mortuary, 295 North Main, Bountiful, Utah. A special family memorial service will follow.
The family is deeply grateful to the staff at Legacy House of Bountiful for the compassionate care they gave Steve.
