Stephen Wilkins, adoring husband, father, and grandfather, passed away the afternoon of the 14th of May 2025 at the age of 56, after a courageous battle with Acute Myeloid Leukemia (AML).
Stephen was born in 1968 in California. He grew up in the city of Garden Grove surrounded by his large family which included 7 siblings, many cousins, aunts and uncles. Family and faith were everything to Stephen. During high school he ran cross country, a sport his future wife also participated in. He was also very involved in the Boy Scouts of America achieving his goal of receiving the rank of an Eagle Scout. After high school, he served a mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints serving in the Australia Adelaide mission.
Stephen met his wife Amy Winterbottom in 1990 through his close mission companion David Winterbottom. They fell in love quickly, instantly drawn toward each other and knew they wanted to share a life together. As a father, he was so proud of his 4 boys. Stephen was absolutely thrilled about his family growing bigger every time he became a grandfather. Stephen worked for UPS and took great pride as a delivery driver where he walked or ran approximately 14 miles and hiked 35 flights of stairs daily. His strength and physical conditioning helped him in his battle with AML, allowing us all extra time to be with him. He fought his disease hard so he could be here for his wife, sons and grandchildren; selfless to the end.
No matter what Stephen set his mind on doing, he went above and beyond. He approached everything he did with excellence and a gracious, charitable attitude, especially when providing service or helping his family and others. Stephen loved learning and was always curious. As a result, he always had an interesting fact or detail to share. His laughter and smile were infectious.
He will be greatly missed by his family and friends, especially his wife, sons and grandchildren who adore him with all of their hearts.
"We hate you were taken too soon. We are grateful we had the chance to say goodbye, tell stories and reminisce. We already miss you dearly. Goodbye for now… to a wonderful man, husband, father, grandfather and brother."
Stephen is preceded in death by his parents Ernest and Ruth Ann Wilkins. Survived by his wife, Amy Wilkins; children: Cody and Meaghan Wilkins, Michael Wilkins, Hunter Wilkins and Thomas Wilkins; grandchildren: Damien Calvert, Sebastian Wilkins, Zaden Chase, Ellaira Wilkins, and Weston Pendleton; Siblings: Curtis Wilkins, Kimberly Wilkins, Jeffrey and Jane Wilkins, Brenda and Tony Frutos, Blaine and Charity Wilkins, Ross and Janet Wilkins, Melanie and Shane Carey, Doug and Julie Frix, Shawn and Anna Lee Winterbottom, David and Tricia Winterbottom, Nathan and Rebecca Sumsion, and Amy's parents, Roger and Gail Winterbottom. As well as many nieces, nephew's, grandnieces and grandnephews.
