Stephen Brent Curtis, 85, of Woods Cross, Utah, passed away on September 3, 2026, surrounded by his family.
Stephen was born on May 14, 1941, in Salt Lake City, Utah, to Nanette Woodmansee Curtis and Hawley Curtis. He was the beloved brother of Kathleen Curtis and Bruce Palmer.
At the age of seventeen, Stephen enlisted in the United States Marine Corps, where he served honorably for five years. Following his military service, he returned to Salt Lake City and attended the University of Utah, earning a bachelor's degree in special education.
On August 12, 1966, Stephen married the love of his life, Carla Lee Devey. Together they recently celebrated 60 years of marriage. Stephen and Carla have been blessed with seven children.
Stephen spent many years working for the Davis County Sheriff's Office before venturing out on his own as the proud owner and operator of a janitorial store and cleaning business.
He loved spending time with his family and exploring the outdoors. Forty-five years ago, he and Carla purchased property in Dove Creek, Park Valley, Utah, creating a special place where their family could always return. Stephen especially enjoyed fishing and camping, making memories that will be cherished for generations.
A devoted member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Stephen served faithfully in many callings throughout his life. One of his greatest joys was serving as a Boy Scout leader alongside Carla. His most meaningful calling was serving one day a week in the Bountiful Temple. Beyond his formal service, Stephen was known for quietly helping his neighbors, especially the elderly and those in need. He lived a life of steady, humble service.
Stephen is preceded in death by his parents, Nanette and Hawley Curtis; his brother, Bruce Palmer; his father- and mother-in-law, Noel and Fontella Devey; and his son-in-law, Paul Miller.
He is survived by his wife, Carla Lee; four sons and three daughters: Michael (Lillian), Kimberlee Miller, Jason (Susan), Julie (Jeremy) Miller, Matthew (Michelle), Kellie (Jed) Peters and Joseph. He is also survived by his sister, Kathleen Curtis of St. George, Utah, and many nieces, nephews, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Special thank you Care Giver Support Network staff for assisting Stephen over the past two years.
Stephen will be deeply missed by his family and all who knew and loved him. His legacy of love, service, and devotion to his family will live on through the generations.
A graveside service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Friday, September 11, 2026 at the Bountiful City Cemetery, 2224 South 200 West, Bountiful, Utah.
