On May 19, 2026, our beloved father peacefully passed away surrounded by his children at the William E. Christoffersen Salt Lake Veterans Home. He was born in Logan, Utah, to Raymond P. and Irene Nowland Johnson. He married NaDene Hodges on November 24, 1954, in the Logan Utah Temple.
Stan lived a life guided by the Lord truly being a hero to his family and friends. He was the perfect example of strength, humility and dedication to his wife and children. Without question he provided for those he loved. He moved around several times to accommodate his wife’s and children’s needs. He was steadfast in caring for his special needs son, Bradley, who required round the clock help and supervision. Dad was the example the world needs, never concerned for his own desires, he spent his time taking care of others.
Stan served honorably in the US Navy during the Korean conflict. No doubt those MIGs that chased his crew from time to time missed due to a Higher Power making sure he got home so he could be there when his family needed him.
After serving our Country, he attended and graduated from Utah State University.
Stan worked as an accountant for Morton Thiokol, then McDonnell Douglas in California. After 3 years in California, we moved back to Utah to raise the family. He continued to work in the accounting field at MSC Corp, the LDS Church, and retired from First Security Bank. At 70 years of age, he helped his son’s contracting business, doing the bookwork as well as sweeping and cleaning up when needed.
He enjoyed snow and water skiing, golf, family vacations, camping, boating, exploring, and fishing.
He held several church callings including Scoutmaster and financial clerk in the Bountiful 31st Ward.
When we examine Dad’s life, we recognize an amazing sense of duty and responsibility fulfilled through humility, self-discipline, generosity, integrity and top-notch values. He was a high achiever of the “Good Things”. He will be greatly missed here on Earth; we’re certain he was well-received on the other side of the veil.
He is survived by his children, Jana, Marc (Ruth) and Greg (Tammi), as well as six grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, NaDene, whom he has missed very much since her passing in 2019, son Bradley, brothers Meloy and Bruce, and his parents. What a wonderful reunion he must have had with our mom and brother.
Our family extends heartfelt thanks to the doctors and staff of the George E. Wahlen Veterans Affairs Medical Center for the care they provided to our dad over the years, to the staff and residents of the William E. Christoffersen Salt Lake Veterans Home, where he lived for more than a year, and to Canyon Home Care and Hospice for the comfort and compassion they gave to our dad and our family during the past four months. We felt especially cared for on the day of his passing.
