Stanley A. Gilbert died July 25, 2005, at home in Bountiful, Utah. He was born August 3, 1918 in Washington, D.C. to Stanley R. and Amparo A. Gilbert. He married Louine Borg on February 22, 1941 and they solemnized their marriage in the Salt Lake LDS Temple on April 26, 1949. Louine preceded him in death. Stan was strongly devoted to his family, church and civic responsibilities. He and Louine were parents of 5 children; Karen Tom Marshall of No. Salt Lake, Ramona Mike Rudert of Salt Lake, Rick Jolene Gilbert of Thatcher, AZ, Mimi Roger Beattie of Bountiful, and Kris Gilbert of Salt Lake all of whom survive him. He was blessed to have 12 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren. His only brother and lifelong friend, Perry R.Gilbert, lives in Clarksville, Virginia. He served in a variety of positions in the LDS Church throughout his life, and had a great love for teaching. He enjoyed being a host on Temple Square in Salt Lake City for nearly a decade and an usher for the Tabernacle Choir Sunday morning broadcast. Stan attended elementary, junior high and high school in Bowie, Maryland. He graduated Benjamin Franklin University in Washington, D.C. with a degree in accounting. He served 4 years during World War II in the U.S. Army Air Corps 305th bomb squadron as a B17 bomber ground crew chief and received the Bronze Star. During his career he worked both in Washington, D.C. where he met his wife, and later in Salt Lake City. He also held positions in several professional and civic organizations. Funeral services will be held Saturday, July 30th, at 11 AM in the Val Verde 9th Ward at 3317 So. 800 W., Bountiful, Ut. A viewing will be held 9:30 to 10:30 AM prior to the funeral. Friends may also visit 6 to 8 PM the Friday evening before at Russon Bros. Bountiful Mortuary, 295 No. Main in Bountiful. Interment will be in the Salt Lake City Cemetery. Contributions, in lieu of flowers, may be made to the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation Utah Chapter.
