Shirleen Rodgers Kinnear

July 18, 1936 — March 17, 2021

Shirleen Rodgers Kinnear, devoted wife of John G. Kinnear and beloved mother of Deborah K. Ganevsky (deceased), John Scott (Nicole), Dorothy Ann K. Hildebrand (Mark), Michelle K. West (Eric), David Shawn (Krissy), and Heather K. Lindsey (Rob), passed away serenely at Legacy House of Bountiful, March 17, 2021.
Shirleen was born in Cedar City, raised in Payson by her parents, Roy and Phyllis Rodgers. She completed her freshman year at BYU where she played first violin in the BYU Symphony Orchestra. Shirleen married the love of her life, John, December 22, 1956 in the Salt Lake Temple and 3 times visited John’s homeland, Southern Rhodesia (now Zimbabwe). She traveled the world with, and meant the world to, John and the family. Shirleen and John served in the Greece Athens Mission. They also worked as temple ordinance workers for ten years in the Bountiful Temple.
Shirleen’s life was completely dedicated to her husband and six children, twenty-four grandchildren and sixteen great-grandchildren. She exemplified for all the finest in what motherhood represented. Her favorite scripture (Proverbs 3:5-6) became the guiding principle for all in her immediate family.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Monday, March 22, 2021 at the Bountiful Ward Chapel, 33 South Moss Hill Dr., where a viewing will be held from 9:45-10:45 a.m. prior to services. Interment – Payson Cemetery.
