Sherlene Allred Larsen

Fanny Sherlene Allred Larsen, age 93, passed away peacefully while surrounded by her family, in Kaysville, Utah on October 30, 2025. She was the first child of Parley Orthell Allred and Iris Evah Larsen Allred and was born on October 2, 1932, in Spring City, Utah. Sherlene is preceded in death by her parents, husband Glendon LeVon Larsen, brother Thomas Orthell Allred, and son Michael Glen Larsen. She is survived by her sister, Patsy Faye Allred McGerty (Jim, Boise), brother Richard Brent Allred (Laurel, Midvale), daughters Deborah L Richards (Lanny, Huntington), Sylvia Stevenson (Randy, Farmington), and Julia Cole (Matt, Kaysville), and son David (Cathy, Madison, AL). She also leaves behind 23 grandchildren, 57 great grandchildren, 8 great-great grandchildren, as well as many nieces and nephews.

Sherlene graduated from North Sanpete High School in 1950, and shortly thereafter she and Glen were married in the Manti LDS Temple, both at the tender age of 19, on November 17, 1950. For the first few years, the young family lived in a railroad outfit car in various small towns across Nevada. Then they moved back to Spring City to accommodate the children attending school. They next lived in West Weber, Utah in a trailer by the tracks for about 5 years. Sherlene worked at JC Penney there while Glen worked his railroad job. After that, they made a home in Carlin, Nevada, where they lived for about 2 years. They moved to Concord, California in 1968, where Sherlene began her successful work career in the California higher education system managing the Diablo Valley College bookstore and 2 other stores as she advanced in her career.

Upon her retirement and following Glen’s passing, Sherlene moved to Centerville, Utah in 1992 to be closer to her children and grandchildren. She was a tremendously positive influence on her grandchildren and made the effort to spend time with them however she could. She loved to travel, so she often made it a point to take them on trips to Disneyland, national and state parks, for dinners out, and on various other “adventures.” She also traveled regularly with other friends and family and even took trips to Thailand, Australia, and New Zealand.

Sherlene served in many church callings, including as a missionary at the LDS Church History Museum for several years. She also loved to attend the regular family and high school reunions that took place in her native Sanpete County. She attended reunions for the Allred, Larsen, Reynolds, and Livingston families, among others, garnering as much genealogical information as she could.

Sherlene had the unique ability to interact with people from all walks of life. She made close friends wherever she went, valuing them deeply and maintaining those friendships over the years. She and Glen would spend every New Year’s Eve for many years with a group of close California friends. Sherlene traveled with many, raised children with many and shared a variety of life experiences with dozens of her closest friends.

Sherlene appreciated art, music and the performing arts and attended events whenever possible. She collected original paintings and art prints. She also influenced others to share in that enjoyment. She loved to play racquetball and volleyball, and she enjoyed the shooting sports.

Her family wishes to thank Dr. Tyler Williams for his medical care over the course of her lengthy last stages of life, as well as her personal aides, Silvana Roda and granddaughter-in-law Elle Skinner, for their kind and gentle care.

Sherlene’s joyful, adventurous, and infectious enthusiasm for life will be missed by all.

Her funeral service will be held on November 15, 2025, at 10:30 am at the Kaysville Utah Deseret Mill Stake Center located at 270 West Burton Lane, Kaysville, Utah. For those wishing to attend virtually, services will be streamed live on Russon Mortuary Live Facebook page and this obituary page.

The viewing (closed casket) will be that morning from 9:00 to 10:00 am. Sherlene will be interred at the Mount Pleasant Cemetery at 3:30 o’clock that afternoon.
