Our dearly loved Mother, Sharon Rowsell Salmon, passed away in her sleep on January 19, 2026. She was 92 years old. Sharon was born on October 20th1933 to Garn George Rowsell and Iva Lou Purser. She was the oldest of 4 children, Charlene (Unker) William Rowsell & Don Rowsell.
She grew up in Salt Lake City on 33rd South and always shared fond memories of her life there. Eventually the family moved to Garfield Avenue. While she was attending East High School, she met the love of her life Dean Everett Salmon. After high school, the Korean War broke out and Dean served in the Air Force and was stationed in Victorville, CA. While Sharon waited for Dean, she worked at Mountain Bell. They married in 1952 in the Salt Lake Temple. Their oldest daughter Sherri was born in Salt Lake City while they lived on “N” street. Soon they built a home in West Bountiful on Pages Lane and had 5 more children, Cindy, Chad, Ross, Sean & Clint. They loved West Bountiful and over the years as the children grew, the home was just too small. They found another home in West Bountiful and moved to the house on 550 West in 1974.
Sharon was always active in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served in many callings, Stake and Ward Young Women’s, Ward Relief Society President, and one of her favorite callings was working with the Single Adults in the West Bountiful Stake and she loved teaching in Primary with her husband Dean.
As her boys grew to go on missions, she took a job working in school lunch to supplement their income and worked for almost 20 years before she retired.
Sharon loved music and had a beautiful Alto voice. She was able to sing with the Onion Street Singers and had the opportunity to sing throughout the Wasatch Front for many years. She really loved the ladies that she sang with.
Sharon & Dean served a mission in the Jackson Mississippi mission, and later in Franklin Tennessee. They really loved the folks they met on their mission. Sharon and Dean also had the opportunity to serve in the Bountiful Utah Temple. While working at the temple, Sharon’s love of Genealogy began. She learned how to use the computer, do genealogy, and prepare names for the temple.
Sharon was preceded in death by her Husband Dean, her parents Garn and Iva Lou Rowsell, her sister Charlene Unker and her brothers William Rowsell & Don Rowsell, and a great grandson Cardon Haskell. She loved family and was so proud of her posterity.
