Sharon Hatch Lords, age 87, peacefully returned to her Heavenly Father on July 23, 2025, surrounded by her loving family.
Sharon was born on March 8, 1938, at LDS Hospital in Salt Lake City, Utah, the youngest of eleven children born to Wilford W. and Retta Sessions Hatch. She was raised in Woods Cross, Utah, and received her education at Woods Cross and Bountiful schools, graduating from Davis High School. She later attended LDS Business College, Brigham Young University, and DATC to enhance her secretarial skills.
On September 19, 1958, she married her sweetheart, Jay LaVar Lords, in the Salt Lake City Temple. Together, they raised five children in Kaysville, Utah. Sharon was a faithful member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served in many callings throughout her life. She was a loving friend to all who knew her.
Sharon began working at a young age, babysitting at 11 years old. Over the years, she held various jobs including at Cargeeg’s Fast Foods, Cudahy Packing as a PBX operator, Avon representative for 15 years, LaVar’s Countertops and Flooring, Kelly and Olsen Temporaries (in Utah and Washington), and the Davis County Clipper. After retirement, she and LaVar served an 18-month mission at the Deseret Mill in Kaysville.
She enjoyed staying connected with family and friends and loved activities such as snowmobiling, water skiing, boating, fishing, sewing, and quilting. Sharon created many quilts for her loved ones and contributed generously through the Kaysville 7th Ward Relief Society, sewing quilts for those in need.
She was preceded in death by her parents, grandparents, and all ten of her siblings. She is survived by her devoted husband LaVar and their children: Steven (Allyson), Deborah (John) Balone, Sharla (Garth) Hanson, Brenda (Cliff) Briggs, and Jeanine (Brad) Milliner; 14 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren.
Funeral Services and a Viewing will be held at Russon Brothers Mortuary, 1941 N. Main St., Farmington, on Tuesday, July 29. The Viewing will begin at 9:30 a.m., and the Funeral will follow at 11:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers, please consider donating to Diabetes or Alzheimer’s research.
Interment will be at the Kaysville Cemetery.
