Sharol Deane Beesley “Sherry” was born on May 11, 1939, to Horace Pratt and Mary Brazier Beesley. She was proud to say she lived her entire life in Bountiful, Utah. She enjoyed her childhood with her three sisters, Marilyn, Janice, and Carol, and her younger brother, Brent. Sherry loved learning and was a student body officer in the first graduating class at Bountiful High School in 1957. She continued her education at the University of Utah, graduating as an honor student.
She married Verlan J Terry in the Salt Lake Temple, June 20, 1961, and nine children were born to them. She was a teacher and pre-school director, but her greatest work and joy was being a mother. She always felt that being at home with her children was a wonderful blessing. Their posterity has brought much happiness and enrichment to their lives. Her family was always the top priority. Her favorite scripture is 3 John 1:4, "I have no greater joy than to hear that my children walk in truth."
Sherry enjoyed serving for many years in the PTA and in scouting with her six Eagle Scout sons. She had a great love for her country. Flying the flag at her home was important to her. She accomplished her goals of visiting all 50 states and every county in Utah. She had great respect for the marvelous creations of her Heavenly Father. She loved sunsets, rainbows, flowers, oceans, full moons, and fresh snow, to name just a few joys. She loved being in nature, going on picnics, and camping with her children. Traveling, watching parades, reading, music, and the arts were a few of her many interests. She tied hundreds of quilts for charity organizations. She cheered for the underdog and visited the lonely, finding great joy in serving others throughout her life.
Sherry was a devoted and dedicated member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, and served as a teacher and in the presidencies of all the women’s organizations. She was an ordinance worker in the Bountiful Temple. She loved attending the temples at home or wherever she traveled. As of 2020, she and Verlan had attended every temple in the United States and many temples around the world.
Verlan and Sherry enjoyed serving as missionaries in Arizona, Nova Scotia, England, South Carolina, and the Cook Islands. She had an abiding love for her Savior, Jesus Christ, and His church and an unwavering testimony of the truth and the joy the gospel brought to her family. She lived a rewarding and fulfilling life.
Sherry was preceded in death by two sons, David and Michael, and is survived by her sweetheart, Verlan, and seven children: Scott (Pennie), Clark (Stephanie), Jim (Cherie), Matt (Jackie), Allison (Brett), LeAnn (Lance), Steve (Heidi). Verlan and Sherry have been blessed with 32 grandchildren and 57 great-grandchildren.
She passed away on June 24th surrounded by family in her home in Bountiful. Funeral services will be held Saturday, June 27, 2026, at 11am with a viewing at 9:30-10:30am at the Mueller Park LDS chapel, 1800 Mueller Park Rd, Bountiful, Utah.
