Sharilyn Thompson Broderick, our beautiful mother, grandmother, sister, and aunt passed away, at the age of 77, peacefully in her home during the early morning hours of Thanksgiving day, November 27, 2025. She was surrounded by her precious family. Sharilyn was born on August 19, 1948, to Robert and Evelyn Thompson in Ogden, Utah. She lived in the Washington Terrace area until the age of 13 when they moved to Bountiful. Sharilyn was the second oldest and the only daughter of four children.
She was attending Viewmont High School, when she met her eternal companion LeRoy Broderick who had just returned home from his mission. He was the older brother of her good friend JeNan. They hit it off on their first date to the movies to see “The Sound of Music” and as they say, “The rest is history!” After graduating in the first graduating class of Viewmont High in 1966, they continued dating and were eventually married and sealed in the Salt Lake Temple on November 10, 1967.
Sharilyn acquired her cosmetology license and worked cutting hair to put LeRoy through school. After his graduation from Weber State College, they moved to Minnesota for work. While they were there they were blessed with their first-born child, David. Two years later, they moved back to Bountiful to be close to family and the mountains they loved.
They moved around a few times in the Bountiful/Centerville area, during which they were blessed with 4 more children Mike, Matt, Julie and Kristy. They built their forever home of the past 38 years in West Bountiful, Utah. It was shortly after building that home together, they welcomed their last child, Steven.
Sharilyn was a faithful and devoted member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She served in various callings throughout her life and especially treasured her time serving with LeRoy as missionaries for four and half years at the Global Service Center in Salt Lake City. Three of those years were serving as the Directors of the mission.
Her greatest love in life was her family, especially her precious 11 grandchildren. She loved making memories and spending time with them on holidays, in the mountains, and big family gatherings on Sundays. Other passions she had in life were sewing, crocheting, plastic canvas, music, including playing the piano, and doing hair. She loved decorating for the holidays, and she was a fabulous cook. Food was her love language to all who gathered in her home.
Some of her greatest qualities are her patience, strength, and resilience. She patiently endured years of butchering animal wildlife on her kitchen table from her fearless hunters and fishermen. She showed great strength as she overcame various health challenges throughout her life including when she broke her wrist the morning of her husband’s funeral but attended anyway. In recent months, throughout her efforts to rehab from her strokes and heart attack, she showed us all how strong she really is and her perseverance and resilience. She kept fighting against challenges and showed her devotion to life and her family to the very end.
Sharilyn is preceded in death by her husband, LeRoy Broderick; parents, Robert and Evelyn Thompson, and her father and mother-in-law, Ronald and Lorna Broderick. Also preceded in death by her brother Ron Thompson; her sister-in-law Cleo Thompson, and her sister-in-law JeNan Page and her husband Jim.
She is survived by her 6 children David, Michael (Gretchen), Matthew, Julie (Russ Davis), Kristy (Vance Sandgren), and Steven. She is also survived by her cherished grandchildren Rachel, Gavin, Mason, Jonah, Isaac, Emma, Zoey, Porter, Maddie, Ollie and Hudson. Her siblings Robert Thompson (Mary Lynn), Craig Thompson (Sheri) and her sister-in-law Ann Thompson. Her brothers-in-law Dan Broderick (Vicki), Kevin Broderick (Laurie), and sisters-in-law Kae Garrick (John), and Trish Coburn. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
The family would like to express a special thanks to many friends, family and caregivers who helped Sharilyn throughout the final days of her life. Including those at Thatcher Brook Rehab in Clearfield and her wonderful care team with Active Home Health & Hospice.
