Scott M Mikkelsen

Scott M Mikkelsen was born on February 19, 1976 to Terry and Peggy Mikkelsen of Clinton, Utah. He passed away May 11, 2025, he was 49 years old. Scott was in the first graduating class at Northridge High School in 1994. He went on to study geology and chemistry at Weber State University. He graduated in 1999 with a major in geology and a minor in chemistry. Shortly after graduating college, Scott relocated to Anchorage, Alaska where he was married for a time. 

While living in Alaska he took full advantage of the beautiful landscape and wildlife. Climbing glaciers, hiking, kayaking, and his favorite pastime, photography. He loved taking pictures of all the beauty Alaska had to offer, but he loved taking pictures of eagles the most. He has so many photographs from this time in his life and they are all beautiful. He worked for the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers based out of Elmendorf AFB as an Environmental Scientist. If you asked him what he did he would always say, “I clean dirt for the government.” He sustained a life-changing injury while in this role. 

Scott moved back to Utah in 2008 where he became a surrogate father to his nieces and nephews. He taught them so many things from how to play Magic the Gathering to how to hold and throw a football. He loved throwing a football with the kids after Sunday dinner when the weather was nice. He did this until the pain from his injury became too much; occasionally he would grit his teeth and still throw that ball around. His love for his nieces and nephews was immense, they all knew that if they needed to talk to someone, Uncle Scott was always there to listen and give advice. 

Scott is survived by his parents Terry and Peggy, brother Brandon (Kadee), brother Chad (Jessica), sister Amy (Jim) and sister Kate (Tyson). He was preceded in death by both sets of grandparents, Uncle Kimm, Aunt Cheryl, and Wyatt (nephew). There will be a small graveside service to honor Scott on May 29, 2025 at the Clinton Cemetery at 11am. This service will be streamed as well as recorded and uploaded when the service is over.
