Scott Hansen was born November 26, 1945, in Salt Lake City, Utah, to Sybill and Keith Hansen. He passed away peacefully on September 7, 2024, surrounded by his beloved family. Scott was a man of exceptional kindness and strength, known for his generosity, soft-spoken nature, and unwavering spirit in the face of adversity. His humor was a constant source of joy, and he had a remarkable ability to make those around him smile with his jokes and good cheer.
He is survived by his wife Caroline Jane Hansen and by his children JaNae Gundersen (Lowell), Jill Brian (Sean - deceased), Holly Hamm (Brad), Bard Hansen (Jonalynn), Megan Ashby (Timothy), and Jared Hansen, along with his children from a previous marriage, Britt Howell (Natalie), Bryan Howell (Melissa), Cynthia Woodall (Bobby), and Spencer Howell (Augusta). Survived by siblings Kent Hansen (Barbara), Gary Hansen (Vicki), Fred Hansen (Ann), Lynette Jones (Lee), Joy Tamborski (Jerry), and Melanie Hansen (Phil Barker). Scott was a proud grandfather of 35 grandchildren and 25 great grandchildren. Scott was preceded in death by his parents, Keith and Sybil Hansen.
Scott’s love for the outdoors was evident in his passion for fishing and hunting, and he cherished the beauty of the mountains throughout his life. His favorite memories were camping and fishing at China Meadows, Bridger Lake, and spending time in the Uintas, where he brought his family and Scouts. His passion for the Boy Scouts began early; he achieved the Eagle Scout award at just 13 years old, and his commitment to scouting continued as he earned the Wood Badge beads recognizing his significant achievement in leadership and direct service to young people. He also received the District Award of Merit and the Silver Beaver. He served in various capacities within the Scouting Program, leaving a lasting impact on many including helping his grandchildren achieve the honor of Eagle Scout.
Scott also had a deep appreciation for gardening and taking care of his yard, finding joy and fulfillment in nurturing his surroundings. His love extended to his dogs, who brought him great comfort and companionship throughout his life.
Scott had a deep love for his country and served in the Utah Air National Guard as a Staff Sergeant in 1964, where he worked as a flight line mechanic. His career was marked by significant contributions at EIMCO, where he played a key role in developing the injection molding process. He later worked for E-Systems, Raytheon, and Moog as a Material Planning Supervisor.
Scott's faith was an integral part of his life. As a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, he served in various callings including Scout Master, Elder's Quorum President, Stake Young Men's Presidency, Executive Secretary, Ward Finance Clerk, and High Priest Secretary.
Scott’s legacy of kindness, humor, and dedication will be remembered by all who knew him. He will be deeply missed by his family and friends.
We invite all who knew and loved Scott to join us in celebrating his life and honoring his memory. A viewing will be held on Friday, September 13, 2024, from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM with funeral services on September 14, 2024, at 1:00 PM with an additional viewing taking place prior to services from 11:45 AM to 12:45 PM. Services for the viewing and funeral will be held at Russon Brother Mortuary located at 295 N Main St, Bountiful, UT 84010.
Following the service, Scott will be laid to rest at the Bountiful City Cemetery.
