1942 Kathleen 2025

Sarah Kathleen Graham Larson

April 19, 1942 — December 23, 2025

Our loving and devoted mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and aunt graduated to the next life on December 23, 2025, following complications from surgery.

Kathleen was born April 19,1942 at home on her family's first farm, in Hope, Indiana. The doctor gave her mother too much morphine, so when Kathleen was born, she wasn't breathing. They kept putting her in cold water, then warm water to get her breathing and keep her breathing. Then finally she was breathing and awake.

Kathleen loved that farm and sometimes wondered how different life would have turned out if her dad hadn't decided to sell the farm and move to San Pedro, CA.

Kathleen graduated from San Pedro High School in 1959. She met and later married George Larson. Together they brought John "Randy", Jody and Steven into the world. They later divorced.

Kathleen worked diligently to be self-sufficient and support her young family. Life was often stressful, as she struggled financially, due to the meager support from her ex-husband. This caused her to move her family many times due to rent increases. She always kept her family in San Pedro, trying to keep the family in the same Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints ward.

Kathleen, with the help of her dear life-long friend, Barbara Broad, was able to get a job with the Dept of Defense (DOD). This ultimately led to her decision to find work with the U.S. government in Salt Lake City, UT. Once a job was secured, she had a yard sale, sold as much as she could, packed up and moved her family to Utah in 1978, and soon settled in Woods Cross, UT for the rest of her life. Two of her sisters, Mary and Carolyn, already lived in Bountiful. Being close to more family and living in a predominantly Latter-Day Saint environment was important to her for her children.

She really enjoyed her job with US Customs and was able to travel to San Francisco many times for training. She also traveled to the Federal Law Enforcement Training Center in Georgia. She thoroughly enjoyed her travels for work.

Many, many thanks to the Woods Cross City monthly Lunch Bunch group. She eagerly looked forward to it and loved this every month!

Kathleen loved to serve others. She served in several positions in her beloved San Pedro and Woods Cross 2nd wards. After retirement, she volunteered at Lakeview Hospital for many years, and also at the Bountiful Senior Center. She was a valiant minister to those in her neighborhood.

Kathleen dedicated her life to her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Her family was everything to her. She sacrificed a great deal for their happiness and success. One of her greatest joys was supporting her grandchildren in many of their life's accomplishments. She was extremely proud of her grandsons receiving their Eagle Scouts and wanted them to have a live eagle at their presentations, and she made it happen. She loved to share with all her friends about her grandchildren when they were serving LDS missions. She supported them spiritually and financially.

Kathleen is survived by her three children, Randy (Annoni) Larson, Jody Larson, and Steven (Colleen) Larson, nine grandchildren, five great-grandchildren, and siblings Elsie Shoaf, John (Gail) Graham, Carolyn Campbell and Andrea Zimmerman and her beloved dog Woody. She is preceded in death by her parents, Gardner and Ruby Graham, sisters Ellen Forkey and Mary Taylor.

We want to thank Dr. Hunter at St. Marks for his compassion and care during such a tender time. Our hearts are broken at her loss. She leaves a permanent hole in our hearts. The reassurance that we will be together again brings us great comfort and joy.
