Sara Christine Caruso, daughter of Pete and Chris Caruso, was born September 19, 1989, in Sandy, Utah. Sara grew up in Bountiful, Utah, with her older brother, Michael, and her younger sister, Samantha.
Sara was baptized into The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints when she was eight and attended church services in the Bountiful 41st Ward during her youth. She attended Hannah Holbrook Elementary School near her home. Sara graduated from Bountiful High School where she was an excellent student. Sara won the Sterling Scholar award for English as a senior, attended Girls State at Southern Utah University in Cedar City, and was proficient in French. Sara concluded her formal schooling at the University of Utah.
Sara began dancing at a young age, mostly ballet. She studied at Applause Dance Studio and then graduated to the Ballet West Academy of Dance. During her time with Ballet West Academy, Sara danced in multiple Nutcracker Christmas productions, in Romeo & Juliet, and in Swan Lake at Capitol Theatre in Salt Lake City. She was also in the Dance program while at the U of U. As an adult, Sara taught young dancers for a time. She maintained a passion for the ballet throughout her life.
During her working years, Sara was a server and a manager at several restaurants. She also had extensive experience in the airline industry. Sara was a flight attendant for SkyWest Airlines and later for Delta Airlines. She loved to travel and has been to El Salvador, Hungary, Iceland, The Netherlands, Spain, France and Italy to name just a few places she visited. After her flight attendant years ended, Sara was in charge of student pilot scheduling and some maintenance scheduling at Flight Academy in Woods Cross, Utah.
Sara had a long-time love of cats and was Mom to several over her lifetime. She gravitated toward kitties with special needs and gave and received much love from them.
Sara was a huge fan of Taylor Swift. She attended one of the Eras Tour shows in Denver with her sister, Samantha, and had a fabulous time. Sara owned lots of Taylor Swift apparel and purchased new music as soon as it was released.
Sara battled serious medical issues over the last 15 years of her life. During her 36 years on this earth, Sara exhibited immense strength, resiliency and determination. Her family often marveled at her ability to keep moving forward despite all the very challenging circumstances she experienced.
On April 13, 2026, her fight ended and Sara went home to be with her Father in Heaven.
Sara is survived by her parents, her brother Michael, her sister Samantha Crawford, Samantha’s husband Sean and their two boys Callum and Rory. Sara is also being mourned by her Grandma Misak, Rulon Green and his son R.J. and many aunts, uncles and cousins.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, April 21, 2026, at the Heights Stake Center, 33 S. Moss Hill Drive, Bountiful, Utah. An evening viewing will be held from 6:00-8:00 p.m. on Monday, April 20, 2026, at Russon Mortuary, 295 N. Main Street in Bountiful. A morning viewing will be held from 9:30-10:30 a.m. on Tuesday at the church prior to services.
