Ryan Douglas Sorenson, age 34, passed away on September 30, 2026. Born five weeks premature, Ryan entered the world fighting for every breath. He carried that same resilient, fighting spirit with him through every chapter of his life.
Ryan was the piece that made our family complete, showered with endless love from the very beginning as our cherished "Ry baby" with chubby cheeks everyone loved to cuddle. As a child, he was a burst of pure energy—curious, adventurous, and thrilled by the world around him. He loved the outdoors, whether he was skiing and snowboarding with the best of them, spending hours mastering his skateboarding skills, or enjoying family camping trips and campfires with his cousins. From his earliest days constantly shouting to get "the boat in the water," Ryan cherished family trips, including memorable vacations to Disneyland, Hawaii, and relaxing cruises.
From early on, Ryan had a lifelong passion for anything with wheels and an engine—the louder the noise and the faster the speed, the better. He always held a special place in his heart for the Mustang he once owned and often expressed how much he regretted selling it.
Dedicated and hard-working, Ryan earned the rank of Eagle Scout before his 18th birthday. He made countless memories during overnight scout camps and campfires, where he somehow always managed to come home wonderfully dirty and dusty.
Ryan graduated high school from Westridge Academy, where he learned values and characteristics that guided him throughout his life. A standout memory from his school years came from his Geometry teacher, who sent a note home detailing Ryan's unique determination given a choice between 22 easy problems or one very difficult one, Ryan chose the difficult one, aced it with a 100%, and then insisted on completing the other 22 problems; doing something completely unique in his class.
As an adult, Ryan brought that same strong work ethic to his many years in the parts department at Jerry Seiner Kia. He was a deeply loyal employee and colleague, making lasting friendships and connections during his time there. Outside of work, Ryan loved video games. He spent hours perfecting his skills, gaming alongside friends, sharing in the intense moments (and plenty of shouting at the screen!), and enjoying the deep sense of accomplishment that came with finishing a game.
Above all, Ryan was defined by his kindness and his dry, witty sense of humor. He was a true friend to all, especially to anyone who needed a friend. He treated everyone with respect and possessed a rare gift for truly listening to others, even when opinions differed. While not everyone got to see his witty side, those close to him loved his comical comments for every situation and found pure joy in laughing along with him.
Ryan is survived by his parents Doug and Cindy; his siblings Aubrey Garrett (Rod), Holly Rencher (Chad), and Chris Sorenson (Taryn); and his 4 nephews and 4 nieces. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, 2 uncles, 1 aunt, and 2 cousins.
His family feels a deep peace of mind knowing that he was met on the other side by so many loving arms. We hope Ryan knows how deeply he was loved. He brought sunshine to our lives and will be missed beyond words. Our hearts are broken for now, but we take comfort in knowing we will be reunited as a family for all eternity.
