With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Ronald Wayne Makin, who returned to his Heavenly Father on May 30, 2025, at the age of 57. Born on April 5, 1968, to Joe and Carol Makin, Ron lived a life marked by devotion to his faith, his family, and his country.
Ron married Allyson Wood on December 19, 2021, and they were later sealed in the temple of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints on December 21, 2024 — a sacred moment that reflected their deep love and shared commitment to their faith. As a devoted member of The Church, Ron had a deep and abiding love for his Savior.
Ron and his wife shared a treasured tradition of going to the movies every Tuesday, always enjoying a big tub of popcorn together. It was a simple joy that brought them laughter, closeness, and countless memories. He loved cheering on riders at the Nephi 4th of July Rodeo and took great pride in his collection of eagle figurines. Ron also enjoyed spending time outdoors and had a deep appreciation for the beauty of nature.
A proud American, Ron held a strong and unwavering love for his country. He never missed an opportunity to show respect for the flag and often expressed heartfelt gratitude for the freedoms he cherished.
Throughout his life, Ron faced numerous medical challenges with incredible courage. Despite his health struggles, he remained positive and full of humor. Even on the hardest days, he remained a steady source of strength, especially to his wife. He loved to joke and keep others smiling. Known as a “walking map,” Ron had a gift for giving perfect directions. Just give him an address, and he could tell you exactly how to get there.
Ron is survived by his loving wife, Allyson; Daughter Fay Hudson; Daughter Kacia Wood; Brothers, David (Heather) Makin, Gary Makin, Brad (Lisa Makin) and Sisters Angela (Mike) Van Roekel and Nique (David) Mower. He was preceded in death by his parents, Joe and Carol Makin; his brothers, Steven (Cynthia) Makin, Jerry Makin, Curtis Keith and his sister, Jolynn (Byron) Eddards.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, June 7, 2025, at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints Chapel, 650 South 200 East Bountiful, Utah, where a viewing will be held Saturday morning from 9:30-10:45 a.m. prior to services.
