Our loving mother and grandmother, Robyn Henrie Griffiths, age 72, passed away on Tuesday, October 16, 2024, in Bountiful, Utah. She was born on July 20, 1952, in Salt Lake City, Utah, the daughter of Marshall Leon Henrie and Barbara Thompson. She and her mother shared a special bond, forged by their independent spirits and unwavering determination. They faced life's challenges head-on, supporting each other through thick and thin, and instilled in each other a deep sense of self-reliance. Robyn was the middle child in her family and spent her childhood amidst the scenic hills of Bountiful. It was during these formative years that she met Julie Lawrence, who would become her lifelong friend, a bond that remained unbreakable until the very end. Robyn graduated from Bountiful High School and embarked on a life filled with love, laughter, and creativity.
Robyn was a loyal and caring friend, always there to lend a listening ear or a helping hand. Her laughter was infectious and brought a twinkle to her eyes. Thoughtful and generous, she had a knack for selecting the perfect gifts that showed how much she cared. Robyn had a fondness for dragonflies and the color purple. The familiar scent of her favorite perfume, Moonlight Path, always lingered around her. Many also remember Robyn for her unique ability to bend her fingers all the way backwards to her wrist, much to the delight (and sometimes fright!) of those around her.
She had a passion for sewing that extended beyond mending clothes. Robyn crafted some of her children's clothing, countless blankets over the years, personalized Christmas stockings, unique tree ornaments, doll clothes and even whole Cabbage Patch dolls. Her sewing scissors held a place of honor in the house, with everyone knowing they were strictly off-limits for cutting paper! Robyn's creativity also flourished in the kitchen. She made homemade salsa and canned it, along with pickles, pears, and peaches. Her wheat bread was legendary in the family, and making suckers with her children was a cherished tradition.
Robyn was a dedicated and loving mother to her four children: Scott, Kelly, Aaron, and Matthew. She adored them and would do anything to support their interests and happiness. When no one else volunteered to coach her child's soccer team, Robyn stepped up despite having no prior experience. She researched the game at the library, even creating hand-drawn booklets to help the kids understand the rules and strategies. She often brought sliced oranges for game-time snacks, a tradition she maintained for all the teams her children played on. As a supportive "dance mom," Robyn spent countless hours driving her daughter to lessons across Davis County and sewing numerous costumes. She also established a heartwarming tradition that continues with some of her grandchildren: making each child's favorite dinner on their birthday.
Robyn excelled in her work and cherished the many friendships she made throughout her career. She worked for Mountain Fuel for many years before embarking on a long and fulfilling career with the Salt Lake City Police Department. As a Senior Information Specialist with the Records Unit, she dedicated herself to her duties and built strong relationships with her colleagues. She ultimately retired from the police department with many fond memories.
Robyn is survived by her children Scott, Kelly Taeoalii (Jeremy), Aaron, and Matthew; her 13 grandchildren: Samantha, Jeff, Moses, Isaac, Elijah, Faith, Sariah, Grace, Taylie, Sage, Kaizer, LiElle, and Briggs; her two great-grandchildren Hazleigh and Ember; and her siblings Mark Henrie, Susie Kershaw, and Jim Henrie. She is preceded in death by her parents and her sister Sherrie Hooks.
