Robert Bruce Spratt III

Robert Bruce Spratt III passed away on July 25th, 2026, following a courageous battle with cancer.

Robby was born on October 18th, 1982, to Bruce and Carolynn Spratt. He grew up in Salt Lake City until the age of 5, then moved to Bountiful where he spent the remainder of his childhood. Robby graduated from Bountiful High School in 2000 and served a faithful LDS mission in Dublin, Ireland. He attended Utah State University and Weber State University, graduating with a degree in mechanical engineering.

The oldest of three boys, Robby spent much of his youth masterminding schemes in which his younger brothers were unwitting pawns. Whether ambushing babysitters or constructing elaborate Rube Goldberg machines, Robby was always full of ideas—usually goofy ones. Despite his mischievous nature, Robby was deeply good and gentle. He was quick to offer help to anyone in need, which as a teenager usually meant driving his brothers to the gas station in his old Jeep to buy inappropriate quantities of root beer.

Robby took his hobbies seriously. He excelled in paintball, cycling, and competitive pistol shooting. Anyone brave enough to go on a bike ride with him was likely to set a personal record. He hosted many movie nights and relished film-centered discussions, eagerly engaging in debates about the best Starfleet Captain (Picard, of course) or which cut of Blade Runner he preferred.

Those lucky enough to have Robby for a friend knew that they could count on him in any crisis. Whether helping someone move in the middle of the night or filling the last slot on a cycling team, Robby always stepped up to help those in need.

His friends also benefitted from Robby’s endless searches for the best of everything, ranging from the best pizza and donuts to the best pets. Through careful research and investigation, he usually found what he was looking for. In 2022 he brought home his cat, Gulliver. He adopted his dog, Gizzy, shortly thereafter and subsequently gave her steak every year on her adoption anniversary.

Along with his pets, Robby’s nieces and nephews, or “nibblings,” delighted him. He loved their honesty, intelligence, and humor, three of the traits he valued most in others. He usually surpassed their silliness and was a good-natured agent of chaos at most extended family dinners. The nibblings eagerly anticipated Robby-instigated pantry raids in search of “emergency cookies.”

Robby shared the happiest years of his life with Christi Jones, whom he married on November 22, 2025. In her he found his dream co-adventurer and a true match for his kindness, faith, and sense of humor.

Robby is survived by his wife, Christi, his parents, Bruce and Carolynn, his brothers, Andrew and Richard, his sisters-in-law, Kathryn and Joni, and his nieces and nephews, Whitney, Isaac, Callum, and Saoirse.

The funeral service to celebrate Robby's life will be held on Saturday, August 1, 2026, at 11:30 AM at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints located at 4220 S Jeannine Dr, Millcreek, UT 84107. We invite you to visit with the family prior to the funeral from 10:00-11:15 AM.
