In Loving Memory of Robert “Rob” Sanderson

Robert Thomas Sanderson passed away peacefully attending his hummingbird flowers on August 11, 2026, in Bountiful, Utah, at the age of 72. Born on July 22, 1954, in Elizabeth, New Jersey, Rob was known for his warmth, generosity, and kind heart—qualities that endeared him to everyone who had the privilege of knowing him.

Rob leaves behind a beautiful legacy of love, family, and kindness. He is survived by his beloved wife of 25 years, LeAnn, and his children, Matt (Lisa), Ian, Meagan (Tom) Koss, and Heather. He also leaves behind 12 grandchildren and one great-grandchild, who brought tremendous joy to his life. Rob’s love extended beyond his immediate family to his stepchildren Tessa (Heather) and Chase, whom he embraced wholeheartedly and who loved him just as deeply in return.

Rob was also a beloved big brother to RaeAnn (John) White and Gordon (Jan), as well as a cherished uncle to many nieces and nephews. His love for his family reached across generations, and the memories, laughter, and moments they shared with him will be treasured always.

Rob was preceded in death by his parents, William Robert and Donna Faye, and his grandparents, who helped instill in him the values of family, faith, hard work, and compassion that he carried throughout his life.

A proud veteran, Rob served in the United States Marine Corps, where he embodied the values of honor, courage, commitment, and service. Following his military service, he built a fulfilling career, eventually retiring from positions with Bard Access Systems and UPS. His strong work ethics and dedication were evident in everything he did.

Rob was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, where he found faith, spiritual strength, and a loving community. His faith was a cornerstone of his life and guided the way he treated others and approached the world around him.

In keeping with his love of family history and his desire to serve others, Rob served a mission for the FamilySearch Center from April 4, 2017, through March 30, 2018. This experience was especially meaningful to him, allowing him to combine his faith, his love of genealogy, and his passion for helping others connect with their family roots.

Even after completing his mission, Rob continued to dedicate his time to helping others. He volunteered twice a week at the South Davis FamilySearch Center, where he generously shared his knowledge, time, and patience with those seeking to discover and connect with their family history. Helping others find their ancestors and learning about their heritage was something Rob truly enjoyed and was proud to be a part of.

Outside of work and church, Rob found happiness in the things he loved most. He was an avid gardener, enjoyed barbecuing, and had a deep love for family history. He took pride in connecting with his roots and sharing stories, traditions, and memories with those he loved. These simple joys brought him—and those around him—many wonderful moments that will be remembered for years to come.

Rob’s greatest legacy is not only in the work he accomplished or the hobbies he enjoyed, but in the love, he gave so freely to his family and friends. His kindness, laughter, generosity, and unwavering love will be deeply missed, but the memories he created will remain in the hearts of all who knew him.

Rob’s life will be honored with a viewing on Thursday, August 20, 2026, from 6:00–8:00 p.m. at Russon Mortuary, 295 N Main, Bountiful, UT 84010.

A graveside service will be held on Friday, August 21, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. at Bountiful City Cemetery, 2224 S 200 W, Bountiful, UT 84010.

Though our hearts are heavy with his passing, we are grateful for the years, memories, laughter, and love Rob gave us. His impact will continue through the family he cherished, the people he served, and the many lives he touched.

And, as Rob would say:
