Robert Wayne Porter

November 24, 1943 — October 24, 2025

Salt Lake City, UT

Robert Wayne Porter, 81, of Salt Lake City, Utah, left this world unexpectedly, but peacefully in his home on October 24th, 2025, surrounded by his loving family who did everything we could to revive him, but it was his time. Known best for his kindness, strong Christian values, incomparable work ethic, and enduring charitable spirit to help others in need; Robert was a Husband, Father, Grandfather, Brother, and man of profound integrity who loved, helped, and respected all who came to know him, and even some who barely did.

Born on November 24th, 1943 in Albuquerque, New Mexico to Oscar and Mae Porter, He was raised on a farm with his two brothers Benjamin and Raymond, served in the United States National Guard for one tour, and married the love of his life, Nancy Potter, in 1977. A career engineer who worked exhaustively to provide for his wife and three sons, Darin, Benjamin, and Matthew, until he retired at the age of 57, but continued to provide further for his family with earnings from the Stock Market. He became a grandfather in 2011, and 2014 who spoiled his Granddaughters every chance he got, up until his passing.

A man of strong faith and belief in the almighty, he expressed himself through Music, Teaching, Sermon, and charity to his fellow man. Always willing to lend a helping hand to those in need, he was kind, cheerful, and generous to a fault. None who knew him, or had their lives affected by him would ever argue he didn’t do enough; he always went above and beyond what anyone could expect.

He is survived by his wife of 48 years, 3 sons, his surviving older brother Raymond, and two granddaughters, all of whom, through thick and thin, he unwaveringly, and unconditionally loved with all his heart and soul.

After his Cremation, we will bring him to rest at home. To all those who knew him, and know where we live, the Porter Family invites you to visit us whenever you’re available, and share your fond memories of him.
