Our loving husband, father and grandfather passed away on Tuesday, December 2, 2025, after a prolonged illness. We are grateful he is no longer suffering and for the many hands who served him throughout his final stages of life.
Bob was born September 20, 1944 to William and Ruth Perry Peters, the youngest of 5 children. He was very proud of his mother's homeland and the Irish heritage she passed on to him. He was overjoyed when he was called as a young missionary to the Irish Mission. He had a love of Ireland which never could be dimmed and passed this love down to his children and grandchildren.
Prior to leaving on his mission, he met Cheryl Maxfield. He was smitten by her and she was swept away by him. Upon his return from his mission, the two were married on February 18, 1966, in the Salt Lake Temple.
From an early age, Bob was destined to be a part of public service. He served in the army and was stationed at Fort Lee, Virginia. He was a volunteer firefighter and spent 23 years at the Davis County Sheriff's office, where he retired as Captain. While there, he paved the way to bring the Paramedic Program to the sheriff's office. He was instrumental in bringing the 9-1-1 emergency call system to Davis County. He spent many years with the AirMed flight program, first as a paramedic and later as a flight coordinator/dispatcher. He always said, however, his favorite job was being the Justice Court Judge for Woods Cross City.
He had a love of music, especially from the 50's and 60's. While on his mission, he was part of the Mormonaires, a traveling musical group, performing concerts all over Ireland. He and his sweetheart sang together to his guitar and her piano throughout their entire lives, passing this love of music down to each of their children.
Bob was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served in many callings throughout his life. In addition to his first mission to Ireland, he and his eternal companion served in the Oklahoma City Mission, spending their entire time in Vernon and Seymour, Texas. After their return from Texas, he and Cheryl spent eight years serving a mission at the Layton Family Search Center. As he realized the time for his passing was close at hand, he expressed a desire to share his testimony one more time with each of his children and grandchildren.
He is survived by his eternal companion, Cheryl; his brother, Jim (Helen) Peters; 5 children, Sean (Sharon), Brent (Alisha), Jed (Kellie), Ryan (Hollie), and Jodilyn (Brad) Wall; 26 grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren. Preceded in death by his parents and 3 siblings, Bill, Clyde, and Nancy.
