Robert Bradford Wright

July 8, 1945 — April 15, 2022

Robert Bradford Wright graduated from this earth to serve his next calling with his father in heaven on April 15th, 2022 after battling stage 4 pancreatic cancer. Robert passed away peacefully his home surrounded by his loving children and devoted wife Helen Ann Wright.

Robert (Bob) was born in Salt Lake City, Utah on July 8th, 1945, to Ernest Lynn and Rachel Verda Wright. He was the second youngest of 8 children and grew up with 5 siblings Ernest, Anna May, Verlyn, Afton, and Wayne. Robert enjoyed growing up in Salt Lake and had many great friendships, many of which lasted up to his final day.

He played the saxophone in the East High Dance Band and he also enjoyed many adventures with the scouting program.  Robert then had the pleasure and privilege of serving a mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He served his mission in North Central States Mission from October 1964 through October 1966.

After his mission he enlisted in the United States Air Force.  He served all over the U.S., in Greece, in the Vietnam war, and then in the Air National Guard. Robert retired having achieved the rank of Senior Master Sergeant (E8).

Robert married his previous wife Trudy Ann Millis Wright on February 28th of 1976. They raised their 6 children in West Bountiful, UT, until her passing in March 2005 after 29 years of marriage.

Robert married Helen Ann Wright on September, 29th of 2006. They lived happily in Bountiful for his remaining 15 years, their family having now blossomed to 11 children.

Robert served many callings in the LDS church. One of his most rewarding has been working in genealogy for the church for over 35 years.

Robert worked in the electrical engineering and calibration lab at the University of Utah for 34 years. After his well-deserved retirement he received a calling of Assistant Director of the Bountiful Genealogical Library.  He also received the calling of Branch President for the Legacy house in Bountiful, a position he held with such love and grace.

Not only did Robert have a passion for genealogy, but he was also passionate about music and the arts. Music would frequently move this deep feeling man to tears. He enjoyed spending time at his parent’s cabin in Samak, UT.  Camping and fishing were past times that brought much joy, he also loved to tinker and keep busy. To relax he enjoyed eating out and seeing movies and plays with his wife and children.

Robert was a devoted and caring husband whose favorite stories to tell would be about his “sweet angel wife” Helen and his 11 Children. He would often joke that he had always wanted 20 kids and he had gotten his wish when you count his children and their spouses.

He was a fun, playful, and nurturing father, grandfather, and great grandfather. His family was ultimately his greatest pride & joy.

He kept a healthy social life and had many great friendships; he will be missed by so many. Everyone he came into contact with instantly loved him, and he has helped and affected so many lives in his time here. Heaven is truly gaining another angel as this man who so loved to serve others is excited to see how he will continue to serve even from the other side of the veil.

Robert is preceded in death by his parents Ernest Lynn and Rachel Verda Wright, his sisters Velma, Geraldine, and Anna May, His brother Ernest, his previous wife Trudy Ann, and their son Joshua Ernest.
