Rick (Scott Eric) Moore

October 2, 1959 — May 14, 2021

Rick (Scott Eric) Moore passed away unexpectedly on May 14, 2021, due to the effects of a house fire. He was born October 2nd, 1959, in Ogden, Utah to Blaine and Alice Moore. Rick grew up in Henefer, Utah where he enjoyed hunting, fishing, trapping, and horseback riding. At a young age, he would deliver newspapers to the people of Henefer on horseback. At the age of 13, he began training and racing horses, which he continued to do for several years. Rick attended Utah State University for his Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting. Upon completing his bachelor’s degree, Rick chose to serve a two-year mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Sweden. After returning home to Utah, Rick was accepted to the Weber College Masters of Accounting program, where he excelled and was hired by one of the Big 8 accounting firms. This decision proved to be of eternal significance as he was soon introduced to the lovely Kristi Larson, who was working at the same firm. The two soon fell in love and were married for time and all eternity in the Salt Lake City Temple.

Rick and Kristi were married on January, 8, 1987, and were blessed with 10 beautiful children: Ashlee (Kenneth) Butler (33), Ambree (28), Aubree (26), Albanee (24), Analee (22), Abbee (20), Auston (19), Allee (17), Ayden (15), and Aimee (13). They raised their family in Bountiful, Utah, where he was a loving and devoted husband and father, always making time to attend his children’s sporting, dance, and musical events. Rick worked at Ultradent Products for 24 years, starting as an accountant, and then developed the financial department. He then later became the Senior Vice President of the company and VP of Operations and Manufacturing, retiring at the age of 55. After his retirement, Rick spent the rest of his life serving those around him.

Rick was a devoted member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He was a member of the bishopric in the 23rd ward and on the high council in the Bountiful East Stake. In the Mueller Park 9th ward, he served as Scoutmaster for over 6 years where he led dozens of scouts in various adventures, creating lifetime bonds. He also participated in several other callings throughout his life.

Rick dedicated his life to the scripture “when ye are in the service of your fellow beings, ye are only in the service of your God”. Throughout his life he served strangers and friends alike. After his retirement he made service the focus of his life, helping those around him in any way he could. He was a member of the Art of Living (AOL), which focused on therapeutic breathing and meditation. He created many friendships while there, which he cherished.

His interests included snow skiing, water skiing, golfing, watching movies, and collecting baseball hats. He was very extroverted and loved to talk to people and make friends wherever he went. He enjoyed telling his life experiences to anyone who would listen.

Rick is survived by his wife, Kristi: his nine children: his granddaughters Brynlie, Brooklyn, and Elise Butler; and siblings, Sherry Jolley (Bob), John Moore (Diane), Rob Moore (Christie), and Phylis (sister-in-law).

He was preceded in death by his daughter, Ambree Moore; parents Blaine and Alice Moore; and brother, Roy Moore.
