It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Richard Max Pilgrim, age 84, who passed away on January 10, 2026, in Bountiful, Utah.
Born on March 27, 1941, in Malad, Idaho, to Max and Theda Pilgrim, Richard was a graduate of Malad High School and attended Idaho State University. He also served with pride as a member of the United States Army. Throughout his life, Richard was a dedicated entrepreneur and the founder of several businesses before retiring from Wasatch Mountain Service. In his retirement, he and his wife, Carole, enjoyed spending their winters as snowbirds in Yuma, Arizona, to escape the cold.
Richard is survived by his loving wife of 62 years, Carole, and his son, Todd, along with Todd's wife, Cathy. He leaves behind a wonderful legacy through his grandchildren, Kandice (Joe) Schmitz and Trevor (Alison) Pilgrim, Justin (Stephanie) Elkins, Cody Elkins and his great-grandchildren, Jakston Schmitz and Beau Pilgrim. He is also survived by his sisters, Pauline (Chuck) Lyons-Chittock, Colleen (Frank) Parker, and Dixie (Bill) Albright, as well as many beloved nieces and nephews.
A graveside service will be held to honor his life at the Malad City Cemetery on Saturday, January 17, 2026 at 1:00 PM.
