Richard Miller

September 19, 1935 — February 1, 2023

Richard passed away unexpectedly at 87 years of age. Born in Dallas, Texas; passed in the Bountiful, Utah area, his home for many years.
Richard served in the ROTC in his younger years.  He Graduated from Texas A&M with his degree in Petroleum Engineering.  He began his career with Hercules, a small dynamite company.  In his time there, he was instrumental in the development of Bacchus West, helping Hercules expand into the field of Rocket Motors.  Richard had a brilliant mind and was always inquisitive and problem solving.  After retirement, he formed his own company where he contracted with Hexcel.  He worked with Hexcel to add facilities for producing high performance materials.  His work was instrumental in supporting manufacturing domestically and internationally.  His contributions to our country's defense, aerospace, and space exploration programs continue to stand as state of the art to this date.
His work ethic and management of projects and people was superlative.
Survived by his wife, Lisa, and 6 children: Rick, Derek, Susan, Jennifer, Sara, and John. He was a loving husband, father, and grandfather. He specialized in the spoiling of his many grandchildren.
He enjoyed traveling. He was fortunate to travel to six of the seven continents of the world.  He traveled to see 3 of the world's top waterfalls: Niagara Falls (USA), Iguazu Falls (South America), and Victoria Falls (Africa). His wife, Lisa, is left behind with instructions to travel to the 7th continent (Australia).
He was a kind, loving, genuine human being. His mind was brilliant. He never judged and loved unconditionally. He worked hard and played hard. His was a brilliant mind who developed engineering work tools and trained aspiring engineers as he advanced in his career. Bottom line: he was a "whole heck of a lot of fun". This world will be an emptier place without him. He touched many lives, inspired people around him.
